Hayley Caine's POV
I'd been coughing for the whole of school and I'd gone to see Kyle who was in prison, but I didn't know that I was to be marked as a fledgling Vampyre and to move to the Miami Dade House of Night (Hell High according to my friends and boyfriend in New York (don't tell my dad about that please) he'll kill me if he finds out). But I was swinging round to the Miami Dade police Dept. crime lab to see my dad as I always do after school, when I saw the tracker. "Hayley Caine, Night has chosen thee, Thy death shall be thy birth, Night calls to thee, Harken to her sweet voice, Your destiny awaits you at the House of Night!" he cried as my head was in a searing pain as a crescent moon was tattooed there, Oh shit, I thought "what's dad gonna say this time" I muttered as I went to find my dad "hey Diane, d'you know where the hell my dad is?" I asked my dad's (really lazy) receptionist "in his office" she flippantly replied as I walk in to see my dad "hey dad I've got somethin' to tell ya" I said "Hayley Anne Marisol Caine what have you done this time?!" he yelled at me "well since I've been feeling crap since this morning it turns out that I was destined to become a vampyre" I said trying not to cry (which I never do) "(sighs) Hayley you need to get home and pack, here I'll drop you off at the house of night" my dad said as I was still coughing (felt like I was coughing my guts up). Later when dad had dropped me off at the house of night I just broke down crying (I assure you I never usually cry) and a absolutely gorgeous woman came and calmed me down "welcome miss Caine,I am Amelie,Your new mentor at the house of night" she said to me "n-n-nice to meet you" I choked out,obviously still upset at being seperated from my dad (again after 14 years). so Amelie took me to the girls dormitories and introduced me to my new roommate "Stephanie-Anne,this is Hayley Caine,Hayley,this is Stephanie-Anne Jackson your roommate who was marked last week..." Amalie said before I shrieked with joy as i recognised my best friend who I saw marked last week "God almighty! I've missed you!" I said laughing with her,she showed me up to our room that we'd share until or if we both made the change into an adult vampyre. On that happy note,she dragged me over to their canteen for dinner "(inhales)jeeze,is that what I think it is?" I asked "yeah,pasta carbonara and garlic bread too!" she squealed in my ear "pipe down,Steph,that hurt" I joke on with her
