Dimitri came to my room with a few boxes, containing most of his few belongings.I had been waiting for him. He asked if he could live with me in palace housing (while off gaurding duties) and of course, I said yes. When I asked if he needed any help, he declined, gently reminding me that I still wasn't healed enough for that kind of lifting.
I had been shot (by our mutual friend, ironically enough) nearly a week ago, and was healing at a steady rate, but I still wore out easily.
So, I sat in the room's living room, on the couch, waiting. The second I heard the familiar footfalls in the hall, I was at the he was close enough, I opened the door. He came in with four boxes, one stacked on the other (which wasn't all that difficult due to his height).Once inside, he put the boxes in various locations; one in the kitchen, another in the bathroom, a third in the bedroom, and the last stayed in the living room.
He unpacked the contents of the box in the bathroom first. It's contents were average; a toothbrush, toothpaste, a hairbrush (for his chin-length, brown, hair), colone, Etc. Then he went to the kitchen, where the contents of that box were just as ordinary as the first.
Next he went to the bedroom closet (Where there was more than enough room for both of our small wardrobes). He hung up his black-and-white uniforms next to my new black, white, and red-collared (indicating that I was a monarch's gaurdian) uniforms.
There was silence, but it wasn't awkward. We were so insync that most of the time, we had no need for words. When we were finished, we went to the living room, and I opened the box. It was fullof the western novels that he read all the time. Thankfully, there was enough room on the small bookshelf in the living room, for all the books. When he started to turn for the door, I grabbed his arm.
"Where are you going?"
" I have to get one more box."
"I'm coming."He started to protest, but I shot him a look that said it was useless. So, with that, we set off, heading in the direction of guest housing (where he had been temporally housed), at first. Then we turned left, away from guest housing, toward the main business buildings. I stopped.
" Where are you going? The guest housing is this way. " I said, pointed in the correct direction.
" I know, I never said I had to go to guest housing to get the box."
" where is it then?"
" In the main gaurdian's building."
" Why is it there? I thought they gave back all of your stuff."
"Almost all. I asked them if they could keep some of my more delicate valuables until I got more permanent lodging. " He shrugged.
" So we're getting this box, and going back. Nothing else?"
He nodded. "Nothing else." He smiled wryly.
The rest of the walk was quiet, and when we entered the gaurdian building, things were very simple. Dimitri just had to sign a few papers and show one of his new IDs. Then he picked up the box that had been set on the front counter, and we set off to our room.
My life was finally the way it was supposed to be all along. I am Lissa's guardian, I live with my love, and no none is trying to kill me and the ones I love. I finally met my father, which gave me a deeper understanding of who I am.
For the past year, I have done nothing but fight for these simple things. Now I have them, and I will never let go.
