Once apron a time there was a man. This man was no ordinary man. He was a Time Lord. He went by the name The Doctor, just The Doctor. Of course this wasn't his actual name for his name has since been lost to time.
The Doctor was a very lonely man. He had lived a long life. So long that his best friend was death and the only certainty was that he would end up alone. He was the last of his kind, the only survivor of a terrible war. His planet went up in flames, its red grass and burnt skies becoming that of legend. It's people a myth and it's name living on in the whispers of the wind. Gallifrey, the shinning planet of the seven systems, home to the Time Lords.
Time Lords were aliens, living thousands of miles away from earth, in a whole different solar system. They had control over time and space. They swore to watch and protect and not interfere. In fact, they had rules, rules of time, so that there would be order. But eventually the peace was ended and the Time Lords fell into a war against a race called the Daleks. The Daleks were made to hate and feel no other emotion. There only purpose was to be soldiers. No one knows how long the war went on or exactly how it started but everyone knows how it ended. The Doctor was left with a choice and in the end, when the smoke had cleared he was left alone. Alone in this big wide universe with no one who fully understands what it's like to be him. What's it's like to feel the world turn or what its like to be able to see what was, what could be, what should be and what is yet to come.
In the beginning, right after the war ended, the Doctor sat down on the floor of the TARDIS and cried. The guilt of killing his own people unbearable. He cried at feeling the emptiness in his head and at knowing that he had brought two species to an end, even if one were his enemies. As he sat there, covered in tears in some dark corner of the TARDIS, he vowed that he would never take a life without out trying to reason with it first. He vowed that he would never again be the reason that a planet was destroyed, that he would instead do what his people promised to do in the beginning. He would protect. He would help others heal whatever wounds they may have. That was the day he truly became The Doctor, the man who heals others.
