Edward POV
"Fullmetal! Get in here! Now!" I could hear Mustang's shout from miles away. I turn and enter his office, sitting down on the hard uncomfortable chair in front of his desk.
"What the hell is it now?" I ask, "What could could you possibly need me to do that you couldn't do for yourself?" I glare at him.
"Some damn clingy dad wants us to find his son who want missing when he was three, THIRTEEN YEARS AGO!" I am surprised at Mustang's tone, "apparently the kid was also starting to learn alchemy, and he had real potential too."
"That's really weird, but, why am I here?" I ask. Obviously this was a stupid question, because Mustang looks at me like I am an idiot.
"I want you and Alphonse to work on the case."
"OK, but I have a strange feeling that you are hiding something about this case from me." Mustang rolls his eyes and mumbles something. "What was that?"
"When the boy went missing, we sent three search parties to where the boy was last seen, and they all want missing."
"What? No! Fuck you, I'm not doing this case!" I storm out of the room and bump right into Al.
"What's wrong big brother?" he asks.
"Mustang wants us to go on a death mission, and I'm not doing it!"
"I'm going to talk to Mustang, and you can wait outside," Al says, and I angrily agree. When Al emerges rom Mustang's office, he has a grim look his face. "Apparently the only reason the military even agreed to open the case file was because the father of the kid who went missing, well he's really rich, and his family has its own police force, and he threatened to set his police force upon the military."
"Wait, WHAT!" My yell fills the hallway and everyone turns to look at me. "If they do that, then they'll also attack me! Ugh, Sometimes I hate being a State Alchemist. I guess that means we're taking the case!" Mustang hurriedly hands me the case file.
"Everything you need to know is in there!" He says, quickly closing his office door, before I can change my mind.
When we get back to our small apartment, Al and I read the case files until we have pretty much memorized them. And then we go to bed. Al lies next to me, forever awake until we find a way to get his body back. I can feel his presence as I slowly drift off to sleep, thinking of what the coming day will hold as my visions slowly become dreams.
I wake up bright and early so I can start packing for the journey ahead. I fill half of the small bag that we are bringing with us on our journey with as much food as I can fit, and I fill the other half with armor oil, spare clothes, and,of course, the case file.
As we make our way to the spot where the case file said the boy went missing we see a cave, in the fillet said the three year old boy, named Natsu Whitter went into the cave to explore, but never came same thing also happened to the three search parties. We slowly make our way into the cave, as we go further in, we begin to see less and less, until all I can see is the red glow of Al's eyes. as we had moved in, we had only really been able to hear our echoing footsteps and my deep, centered breaths, but now we could hear a faint whirring sound. As we continued to move forward, the red glow of Al's eyes abruptly stopped, and I felt myself being pulled into what felt like a fast moving tornado, and then popping out in what looked like the outside to the same cave, except the air was hot and steamy. I slowly start to turn around, and, even though he can't technically feel heat, so does Al. What we see when we turn around is what looks like a dragon.
"Shit." Is the only word that comes to mind.
