For the snakes and ladders challenge – write about Lily Evans Potter.

For the personal restriction comp – write about Harry Potter.

(You see why I put these two together, yes?)

.

Lily leans against the doorframe, watching her husband and son. James has one-year-old Harry siting on the toy broomstick that Sirius got him for his birthday, hovering a few inches of the ground. She smiles as Harry laughs.

Few moments later, James picks Harry off his toy broomstick and starts to head for the dining room. Noticing Lily standing there, James pecks her on the cheek. "He loves it," he says proudly.

Lily rolls her eyes and takes Harry from James. "He's too much like you already," she replies seriously, but the grin that appears across her face ruins the mood.

"You make that sound like a bad thing," he pouts. But as he sees the grin appear across her face, he laughs.

Together, they sit down for dinner. James digs in, even though Lily's cooking isn't the best. And Lily sets out to feed Harry. Lily doesn't allow James to feed their son, because, according to her, he doesn't do it properly – "You're supposed to act like an airplane, James," she says with a sigh before taking back the spoon.

Now, James just sits there as Lily scoops the food onto the spoon and makes train sounds. (He vaguely remembers learning about airplane in Muggle Studies, so it's just easier for him to let his wife feed Harry). "Open up for the plane," she coos to Harry. Harry opens his mouth, allowing Lily to feed him.

She continues this motion until all of Harry's food is gone. Putting down the spoon, she lifts her hand and smiles. "All gone!" she declares, causing Harry to giggle.

Before she can start to play pick-a-boo with Harry, James picks him up from the high-chair. "Let's get you into the bath," he says. He disappears up the stairs, allowing Lily to finish her dinner. When she's done, she heads upstairs to see how much of a bath Harry gave James.

"What are my boys doing?" she asks, as she enters the bathroom. Upon seeing the scene, Lily laughs. James is crouched over the tub where Harry is giggling. The floor is wet and James is soaked. Looking up, James glares at Lily, causing her to laugh harder.

"Why does he always splash me?" he asks, standing up to allow Lily to knell where he was.

Lily shakes her head. "Come on," she whispers. "Let's get you dried off." James summons a towel and Lily dries Harry's small body. Carrying her son to his room, Lily sets about dressing Harry.

She sits down in the rocking chair, and pulls Harry against her. She opens the book of Muggle fairytales and starts to read to him as James stands at the door, watching her with a smile on his face. (He had asked her way she does everything the Muggle way, and he only had gotten, "That's how I grew up, James. I want to show Harry that," in response).

Halfway through the story, Harry yawns and starts to fall asleep. She finishes the story before kissing his forehead and lying him in his crib. "Good night, Harry," she whispers as she turns off the light and shuts the door.

Once outside, James pulls her into a hug. "I love you," he whispers into her hair.

A/n – this is my hundredth story. I thought it would be fitting to have a story about the couple I made a fanfic account to write for as the big one hundred. Oh how far I've come since I first started.
