Family Life Hotch/Reid

'Spence, wake up.' Spencer groaned and rolled onto his back but made no move to get up. Aaron frowned wondering how best to wake his lover up. Getting a sudden idea he grinned and began gently kissing the side of Spencer's neck. Eventually Spencer sighed and slowly opened his eyes. 'Can't we stay here a bit longer?' he begged, wrapping his arms around Aaron's waist and pulling him closer. Aaron sighed and leaned into his lover's embrace. He gently placed a kiss on Spencer's lips but pulled away quickly when he tried to deepen the kiss. Spencer pouted up at him. 'Don't worry babe,' Aaron reassured him, 'we'll have plenty of time tonight.' Spencer grinned at him and finally allowed himself to be pulled from the bed.

The two men got dressed before heading downstairs to the kitchen. While Spencer was making pancakes for breakfast Aaron went to get their son, Jack ready for school.

Spencer was just putting the pancakes on a plate and taking them over to the table when Aaron appeared carrying Jack. 'Pancakes!' Jack yelled happily seeing Spencer putting them down on the table. Aaron seated Jack at the table while Spencer got plates, cutlery and butter. 'Here you go buddy,' he said putting a couple of pancakes on a plate for Jack and spreading them with butter.

Aaron and Spencer ate their breakfast in silence while listening to Jack excitedly chattering away about a school trip to the zoo. When breakfast was finished Aaron and Spencer got ready for work while Jack brushed his teeth and put on his shoes. When everyone was ready they all headed out to the car.

When they arrived at Jack's school the three of them got out of the car and Jack gave his two daddies a hug. Spencer and Aaron both kissed him on the forehead and ruffled his hair affectionately and then watched him hurry through the school gates. When they were satisfied that Jack had made it safely into school they went back to the car and went to work.

The case that the team handled that day was especially gruesome fortunately the unsub wasn't too bright and the team easily caught him.

After the arrest had been made the team went to their separate desks to begin the paperwork. Spencer took his paperwork up to Aaron's office and the two of them sat together on the couch. It didn't take long for Aaron to realise that something was bothering Spencer. 'What's the matter?' he asked anxiously. Spencer sighed, put his paperwork on the floor and then rubbed the bridge of his nose. 'This case was so awful,' he whispered. Aaron put his own paperwork down before putting his arms around Spencer's shoulders and pulling him into a close embrace. 'Don't think about that now,' he murmured in his ear, 'think about us and about our family.' He softly kissed Spencer's cheek before turning his head towards him and kissing him warmly and passionately on the lips. Spencer wrapped his arms around him as the lovers continued their kiss. Slowly Aaron released Spencer, reached over to the table near to the couch and picked up a photograph to show him. He smiled and took the photograph from Aaron who wrapped his arm around his shoulders and rested his forehead on his cheek.

Spencer looked down at the photograph and his smile broadened. The photo showed him, Aaron and Jack at the park and had been taken by Jack's Aunt Jessica. He felt all his sadness disappearing as he thought instead of his family and how much he loved them.
