Author's Note: So awhile ago I got nostalgic for the days when Tammy and Lizzie were actually friends, and couldn't help but do a brief au- what if Lizzie had overheard Tammy talking about Jonathan but talked herself out of falling for him rather than letting it happen?

Mood Swings
Tammy finds Lizzie perched on the edge of her hotel bed, chin in her hands. She looks miserable, and Tammy can't stand to see that, so she sits next to her and rests a hand on her back.
"Lizzie?" she asks softly. "Are you all right?"
"I haven't been all right in years," her friend says bitterly. "I just- sometimes I really hate this, you know? Being pregnant." She quickly adds, "It's not because I don't love the baby, or because I don't want her, I do. You know I do!"
"I know," Tammy reassures her, rubbing her back.
Lizzie nods, taking deep breaths. "Everything's just so out of control! My hormones are going crazy, and my body keeps changing all the time, and I want to eat all these weird things- and it's not like I was all that sane to begin with! I just keep thinking these things, and I just, I don't know. I mean, I actually spent, like, five seconds thinking I wanted him." She utters a quick, unamused laugh.
"Wanted who?"
"Jonathan! Who else?" She shudders. "If I wasn't pregnant, I'd be so drunk right now, you have no idea."
Tammy just blinks at her. While she's been insecure about watching another woman carry Jonathan's child, the bright side about Lizzie being the woman in question is that she and Jonathan will probably never see each other in a romantic light. They're too much alike, and too hard on themselves to be drawn to someone they have that much in common with. "Well, you know I can't blame you or anyone for wanting Jonathan," she says, striving to inject some levity into this moment. "He's a great guy- but he's my great guy."
"I know, I know," Lizzie says quickly. "I just thought I'd warn you in case I lose my mind and try to blackmail him into marrying me or something."
She laughs at the idea. Maybe she shouldn't, since Lizzie is definitely capable of blackmail, but Jonathan can give as good as he gets, and the idea of those two trying to make a go of marriage is a pretty hilarious mental image. "Don't worry, I won't let that happen," she says. "The only person around here who's going to be marrying Jonathan is me."
"Amen," Lizzie says, and now she's laughing, too. "Just wait until I work off all this baby weight, okay? If I'm going to be the maid of honor, which I am, I want to look hot."
"Like you don't already."
"I love it when people lie to me like that," she remarks, her good mood obviously restored. She gets up. "Come on. Just let me fix my hair and we can go over to Company to get something to eat. I'm starving."
"Sounds good to me," Tammy agrees.
