Back to Denver
Bella's POV.
I sat in my seat, unmoving. Staring out the window, looking at the clouds below. The sky was the color of cat vomit. Sure, you'd have to feed your cat only salmon for a while to get the pinks right. But the clouds did look a bit fishy, rippled into their shapes by the high-altitude winds. Bored of looking out of the window, I shifted myself to be more comfortable and closed my eyes. Eventually I managed to get to sleep. My dreams weren't anything interesting. Just the last few hours, being replayed by my subconscious.
I stumbled out of my car, and ran towards my locker to grab my stuff. The moment I got to my locker the bell rang, and I felt someone tapping my shoulder. "Hey, Bells? I gotta talk to ya", a familiar husky voice said.
"What, Jake? What's so important that you can't wait 2 hours to tell me?", I asked curtly. "Well, y'know how you're moving back to the states and everything? Well, I don't wanna have a long distance relationship with ya. I hope you understand", Jacob, my boyfriend-or now ex-boyfriend- for the last 4 years, said hurriedly.
It took a while to sink in. My boyfriend of 4 years just dumped me. I took a deep breath in through my nose, and exhaled out through my mouth, and repeated the process a few more times. In response, I simply nodded, refusing to let my voice betray how I was feeling. Suddenly I was in my room, putting my last book into my moving box, while on the phone with my best friends, Maree and Arielle.
"I'll miss you, Bella! Take care. I don't wanna have to go all the way over to the states to go to your funeral. But, before I say goodbye, I have something important to say to you." Arielle said jokingly.
"And what's that?" I asked cautiously.
"I lost the game." She replied, before laughing.
"Likewise, Bells!" Maree added.
"Oh, God! I'm gonna miss you two so much." I whispered, holding back tears.
I was awoken by my younger sister, Alice shaking my shoulder. "Bella! Bella! Wake up! We're gonna land soon!" She very nearly yelled in my ear.
"Alright Alice, I'm awake!" I mumbled while swatting the air in front of my face. When we landed I was extremely grateful to be able to move my legs after the 27 hour journey from Canberra, Australia, to Denver, U.S of A. Reaching up to my overhead compartment, I grabbed my dark green shoulder bag, adorned with my favorite patches, and started to make my way off the plane. As soon as I stepped off the plane, I felt instantly re-energized, and memories came flooding back. Man, it feels good to be home, I thought.
My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw my new home. Although it was raining, I still got out of the car, but ended up stumbling in the process. In the corner of my eye I saw a flash of a bronzy, coppery color and turned to se the source. In my next-door neighbor's yard I saw the most stunning person. He had coppery/bronzy hair that was casually disarrayed, striking green eyes and features that looked like they belonged to a greek god. Maybe he is a greek god. I thought to myself, and a little smile played at the edge of my lips. I'd only been standing in the rain for a moment or two, but already I wanted to get inside as soon as possible. Grabbing my two suitcases, I started hauling them inside, and up the stairs into my room.
