A Lost Cause
It had been three years since he had met Kyouko again. In that time, he had comforted her whenever she was down, saved her reputation when she was put through a scandal that almost cost her career, and saved her life from a perverted stalker. A year passed and he eventually--out of a fit of anger--told her he was "Corn". He hoped by saying this, she might at least feel more for him than respect. He hoped at least friendship, but she didn't believe him.
All she said was,"You're cruel, Tsuruga-san! Why didn't you tell you knew Corn?!" All he could do was stare numbly at her, and try to explain that he was Corn. A few months later, she realized what he meant, and guiltily asked for his forgiveness. He laughed and said it was okay. Thinking that their relationship had improved, he decided to tell her that he was also Kuon Hizuri. It didn't turn out the way he wanted at all--she started calling him big brother. No matter how hard he tried to get her to stop, she wouldn't listen to reason. He even tried to get his father to convince her otherwise, but she refused to listen. Finally, two and a half years later, she managed to beat Fuwa in showbiz. Ren was overjoyed that he might actually have a chance with her. So, he confessed his feelings, a smile on his face the entire time.
"Kyouko-chan...I love you," he said.
"I love you, too,"she said with a grin. His smile brightened, until she added,"...like a brother." His smile faltered and he tried to explain what he really meant, but she wouldn't listen. Yashiro and Kotonami even tried to help her realize what he actually meant. Nothing worked. At last, it came to the point where Fuwa confessed his feelings for her, and she muttered," So, I'm not a boring girl anymore, am I?" Regardless, both men knew she understood what Fuwa meant. Kyouko didn't accept his feelings, but Fuwa left triumphantly. That had been a few weeks ago. Ren finally sighed to himself and realized that Kyouko was a lost cause. He didn't want to, but he had to give up on her. If he didn't there was no telling what he might end up doing.
******Three years after Ren's resolution******
A young woman about in her mid twenties walked into Ren's kitchen and got out some dishes. Putting them on the table she then yelled for him. He came in a minute later and blanched at all the food. She laughed at his expression and just pointed to the seat. Sitting down, he pointed down at her stomach.
"So, I take it we're eating for two, Lorelei,"he exclaimed, laughing. She gave him a look and didn't say anything for a minute.
"Kuon, darling, WE aren't eating for two...I am eating for two,"she sweetly murmured. Lorelei was pregnant with his child--two months along, in fact. They both laughed, and continued to eat dinner.
His career had soared to new heights after giving up on Kyouko. He eventually got successful globally, and met Lorelei after people found out that he was Kuon. She accepted him completely and they got married some time later. He would refer to it as a warm, gentle romance that grew out of definite friendship. She would refer to it as "marrying that idiot that I love a lot". Regardless, he really did love her. She had saved him from doing something drastic that might have ended up jeopardizing Kyouko. For that, he would love her forever.
The End.
A/N: I typed this out after finding out that my other fanfic is apparently...not good. Eh. Such is life.
Regardless, it was torture to type this. I still had fun though!
Oh, you really don't have to review or whatever. I do hope you liked it.
