The sky is tinged purple this night and the sun is gently setting below the lake.
And there sitting by the lake are two escapees from the Yule Ball. Both trying to get away from the headache inducing noise.
"I love you."
"Whaaa…do you even know my name?"
"No, but do you love someone based on their name? I know Ravenclaws are romantically challenged but honestly!"
"And here I thought it was common courtesy to know someone's name before confessing romantic intentions. And that was random. You barely know me."
"I saw you in the hallway once…I believe the muggles call it love at first sight."
"I don't believe in that junk."
"Ten sickles that I can change your mind."
That night, two Hufflepuff looked out the window and swore that they could see two people dancing by the lake shore to the beat of the waves.
And like that, Cho Chang and Viktor Krum fall not madly, but fairly deeply, in love.
And this is how, Cho Chang and Viktor Krum end up on top of the Astronomy Tower, the day right before Cedric's death, holding hands, hugging, and yes, kissing.
This is how this story ends.
Cho Chang never really did forgive herself for cheating after Cedric's death, and therefore never forgave Krum for luring her away.
Cho Chang sometimes sits on the shore, alone.
She sometimes cries.
She sometimes dances if only to remember the dances she had on the day of the Yule Ball.
She sometimes laughs.
She sometimes remembers.
She remembers how her breath was swept away.
She remembers how she once had her fairytale.
She remembers the wind in her hair and the sea spry on her feet.
She remembers her first last only kiss on the Astronomy Tower.
And sometimes, she wonders; if she can really love again, the reason why Krum crosses her mind more than Cedric, and if Harry Potter really did love her?
And now, ten years later, Cedric still comes to mind and Harry Potter always haunts her with the what ifs.
Still, it is not Cedric's or Harry's that she remembers the most but her first last only kiss with Krum on top of Astronomy Tower.
These are the boys that she will always regret.
And that is the kiss, the will always linger on her lips.
