Kittens

Genma was walking over to Kakashi's place when an elderly woman asks for his help. Being a gentleman, he followed her until they stop at what he thinks is her house. He sees the box of kittens and just stares at the litter with curiosity.

"Take care of these kittens. I'm far too old to do so." Given the woman's quivering voice, he couldn't resist. Now with a box of kittens, what was he to do? He didn't know how to take care of kittens. Kakashi might, so he heads back in the direction of the jounin's apartment.

Wanting to get away from his comrades snickering, he goes to jump on top of a roof until one of the little fur balls mewls. Sighing, he continues on and ignore them.

After reaching Kakashi's place he knocks and Kakashi lets him in. He places the little creatures of fluff in the middle of Kakashi's living room and Kakashi gives him a curious glance as if asking, "What's that?"

"Kittens," Genma says defensively.

"Kittens?" The Jounin says with humor in his voice.

"Yeah, so?"

"Nothing." Genma raises a disbelieving eyebrow. A few minutes of silence passes by before Kakashi says something out of the blue.

"They're cute," Kakashi says and Genma shakes his head.

"Cute?"

"Cute." Both men look at the box of kittens and smile.

"So, got something for them to play with?" Genma asks Kakashi.

"No, but I have an old eye patch." Now it was Genma's turn to say something out of the blue.

"Get it; I got an idea." Kakashi disappears into his bedroom and comes back with the eye patch and hands it over. Genma takes out his kunai, flicks it against the elastic string in two places, and the patch falls off. Kakashi watches with curiosity while Genma takes a senbon and ties the string on.

"Got a ball of yarn?" Kakashi shakes his head as Genma heads for the kitchen. "How 'bout foil?"

"Yeah. Second drawer on the right, closest to the fridge. Why?"

"You'll see," he says and takes the foil out, curls a piece into a ball and, using his chakra, glues it to the string.

"For them?"

"Yeah."

A few minutes go by and a kitten bats the ball before the other kittens follow suit. Both Jounin look at each other asking, "What next?" As if answering the question, a kitten pats its paw against Genma's shin. Genma and Kakashi catch on and start to play with them before they all tire out and land on the couch.

All of the kittens sleep peacefully on the couch making the two Jounin laugh.

Who knew kittens could be so fun?
