Tap. Tap. Tap.
The rain hit the small, quaint cabin, the small 'taps' sounding more like cannons. Lighting flashes, the room alluminates, and there's a quick view of something huddle in the corner. That something happens to be Ashley Graham, and the infamous Leon S. Kennedy. Ashley's head is rested on Leon's chest, in a half asleep state. Not that either of them could sleep much, considering what could be waiting in the darkness, ready to jump out and stow them away to who knows where.
A small whimper escapes the troubled girl, her eyes scrunching tight, and face growing pale. It kills Leon, it really does. It kills him. He can't seem to save her from this, he wants to oh God he wants to. He doesn't know if he can is the thing. Sure, he went through Racoon City, he was so close to death then. It was a near miss. He soothes her hair, trying to wish the nightmares away. Trying to make this go away. "I'm so sorry Ashley…." He whispers into her hair.
Another flash, and the rain is coming down harder now, meaning Leon has to listen even closer for footsteps, or incoherent grunts that might be coming from the Villagers. He felt Ashley shiver beside him, he pulled her closer trying to warm her with his body heat. She was so fragile, he noticed, while he held tighter to her. So small, she needed him there, and that's what kept him going. Ashley needed him, and he wouldn't let her down. Never.
It seems like an eternity since Ashley has been 'asleep' but he knows it couldn't have been more than an hour. 'God, I'm so sorry.' He thought, he pulled his jacket off alittle, and huddled Ashley in there with him the best he could. It seems Leon has just closed his eyes for a second, when Ashley starts, and clutches Leon. "Leon…" She whispers, holding, grabbing, feeling. Trying to make sure he was there.
"I'm here." Leon said simply. He felt her calm alittle. "I thought you were outside or something…." Ashley said, her voice on the brink of fear, tears seemed like the were threating her eyes. Leon said nothing, just sat there with her. Comfort. That's all she needed, no words needed to be said, just knowing he was there was enough. To Ashley, Leon was a hero. Something golden, when everything seemed so bleak. Her only companion. Ashley needed Leon, more then he could ever know. There was something about him, that even when they were surrounded, and the horrible sound of a gun going off rang in her ears, she felt. Calm. Well, maybe calm wasn't the right word, but she felt better in a way. Knowing she wasn't alone, and atleast one of them knew what they were doing.
"Leon…" Ashley said, "Do you hate having a whiny girl follow you around like a lost puppy?" Leon was quiet for a moment. "No." He answered, "I don't mind Ashley." He said her name softly, sweetly. Ashley let her hand wander, down to one of his. She eased her fingers through the spaces in between his, and held onto his hand. Leon rubbed her knuckles with his thumb, letting her know he was there.
The sun was coming up through a fog. It was morning, and they would have to get moving. For now though, they would sit there, in the comfortable silence. Just enjoying the moment of being in each other's presence.
Even after leaving the cabin behind, and walking into the misty morning, the comfort was still there, and Ashley and Leon walked towards their destination. Together.
((Ack! I know it was probably terrible, but I had to try. LeonxAshley, adorable pairing don't you think? Well thank ya for reading loves.
