Caught Off Guard
Summary: Palmer reflects on events in Last Man Standing. Warning: allusions to spanking of adults. Don't like? Don't read!
Disclaimer: I don't own them, I just play with them.
A/N: This is part of my 'Lessons' series and builds on a larger plot arc. It takes place after the conversation with Palmer in Last Man Standing, and assumes the events in my story Caught.
Jimmy sagged against the wall of refrigerator drawers in relief. The Director and Agent Gibbs had left, and after his profuse apologies and promises never to repeat his indiscretions, the issue seemed to be closed.
In the corner near the door, an old-fashioned umbrella stand stood, full of the walking-sticks and forearm-style crutches that Dr. Mallard kept handy, having been called on far too often to provide first-aid services for various agents. A few months ago, a slender rattan cane intended for a very different purpose had been added to the collection. It waited there menacingly, catching Jimmy's eye every time he passed it. Still shaken by his conversation with the frightening head of the Agency, and the more frightening senior agent, Jimmy glanced nervously towards the elegant ceramic container and its terrifying contents.
Director Vance and Agent Gibbs hadn't said anything about informing Dr. Mallard of his dalliances with Agent Lee. Or that he'd kept his promise to Agent Gibbs only in the most strictly literal sense, moving the affair out of the building, but not off the Yard.
But, he realised, swallowing hard, they hadn't said they wouldn't, either.
