A/N: This short little 'story', if it can even be called that, hit me last night, and I just had to write it. It is a 'what if' kind of thing meant to poke fun at the Lion King. Don't get me wrong, I love that show. Anyways, enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own the Lion King in any way or form, as that would be Disney's area. All hail to Disney.
A Baboon's Blunder
The joyous day had finally arrived. The cub had been born! All manner of creatures from across the Pride Lands had traveled together to catch a glimpse of their prince. Among these animals was a wise and highly esteemed old baboon named Rafiki.
Bowing in respect to King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi, Rafiki smiled gently upon the newborn. Cracking open a ceremonial fruit, Rafiki anointed the cub upon his forehead. It was now time to give the rest of the kingdom their first look at their future king.
Picking the cub up with the utmost of care, Rafiki made his way to the very top of Pride Rock, with Mufasa and Sarabi behind him. Grasping the prince firmly, Rafiki held him up for all to see. "Simba," Rafiki murmured, naming the cub.
All of the animals below began to stamp their feet in delight, and the sound of their rejoicing filled the air for miles.
That's when things went terribly wrong.
Rafiki's thin arms began to tremble, and his legs began to shake. It was only now that the young parents noticed how thin Rafiki's arms were. They could hardly be strong enough to hold their son up like that! Rafiki really seemed to be straining under the pressure. The trembling of his arms became more urgent.
Sarabi was getting quite worried at this point, as was her husband. "Maybe I should take Simba now," Mufasa suggested to Rafiki, but he was too late.
Rafiki's strength gave out, and to the horror of everyone, he dropped the young cub off the edge of Pride Rock!
THE END.
A/N: What can I say, I have a sick sense of humor. Reviews are nice. I don't think that I need to go into details as to what happened to baby Simba.
