Roxas believes he lives an average life- a caring family, a small group of friends, average grades, and easily bullied by the school gang. All of this changes when Roxas meets Axel, and upperclassman with a past too similar to his own to be coincidence.

Unattainable Dream

Prologue

Freezing darkness surrounded him.

The raindrops splashed upon the ground and soaked through the black cloak, chilling him to the bone. Thunder erupted far above him, but it didn't startle him- he couldn't feel startled…couldn't feel any emotion at all.

He wanted to get up- to escape the dark and pelting rain, but his body would not respond. Instead he let his eyes fall closed and his ears to take in the sound of the falling water.

…what did it all matter anyway?

There were footsteps, and then pain as the back of his head was pulled upward by the roots of his hair. Through blurry, watery eyes he was forced to look up into the hooded face of the Oppressor.

The man's voice was dark; melodious. It betrayed the meaning of his words.

"You are a Nobody…and you will always be a Nobody." The pressure on the back of his head left and his face smashed against the soaked asphalt of the paved street. His body felt limp- he couldn't move. His face felt scratched and bloody from the fall.

…and as the man's words echoed through his head, the tattooed 'XIII' on his back burned for the rage and sadness that he was unable to feel.

"…because I'm a Nobody…"

The words fell from his cracked, bleeding lips and were lost in the sounds of the growing storm.

"…because…I'm a…Nobody…"
