I drove up to the starting line, in my modified '69 Camaro. I've put a lot of work into this ride, and I'm proud of what I've done. It was midnight blue, and had silver and dark red tribal vinyls on the sides. My crew's logo, a white-outlined orange phoenix on a yellow sun, sat on both sides of the hood of my car. The hood had a hole, to show the supercharger. My Camaro had a custom spoiler and body kit, aggressive and aerodynamic, light black tinted windows, and dark purple Center Line Dagger rims. Yep, with my crew, I've transformed this car from the wheels up. Now it's time to put it to the test. Here comes my opponent, racing down the road in her orange and gray Dodge Charger R/T. Angie, crew leader of 21st Street, racing against me, crew leader of the Fireborn. The winner gets the pink slips and control over Downtown. But before we get to the true race in the canyon, we race here in the streets. Angie pulled up beside me with her window down, and spoke. "You should have stayed away. Whatever anyone thought of you then… There isn't going to be any doubt now." And with that, we both revved our engines. The race was about to begin. I timed my launch right, and inched past her. We both angled right to take a side alley shortcut. Then, Angie started to pull ahead by using the nitrous oxide installed in her Charger. I shifted gears and raced after her, my radio turning on and playing my favorite racing song.

Going fast, makes me feel alive. My heartbeat's in hyperdrive. Do you think you could win? Only if I lose. Just let destiny choose. I can hear you breathing. I can see you coming. I can feel the wind, that's blowing me around. Take a shot and a mirror running side by side, it's a blur, as I drive. I can hear you breathing. I can see you coming. I can feel the wind, that's blowing me around. See the sun arise, the fire in the sky, We just, just set sail, into our lives…

Hey, I know it's from an old cartoon, but by all that's holy it fits me so much. I shifted gears once more, and began to pass Angie, who eased up on her NOS. I smiled softly. This was going to be one hell of a race, that was for sure. And I'm going to win it, screw the speed limits. It's time to shift into overdrive.
