The sun will still set

On the east and the west

Where the greasers roam streets

And the socials are best

The sunset can be seen

From both sides of the state

The night falls on both sides

Across the thin line of hate

The socials in their cars

Roaming the street

Searching and following

A greaser to meet

The brawls and the rumbles

Go on through the night

And then they go home

And get ready for a fight

But the socials and greasers

Are together through the pain

They're all outsiders in the world

And they're all just the same

But murder is now

And Ponyboys life has gone wrong

Him and Johnny must run

They both must stay strong

Though Darry and Soda

At home are awake

Fearing welfare of their brother

And who's lives are at stake

But Dallys on hand

To help them through the fight

And with a gun and some money

They're off in the night

To a small town beyond home

In the country they stay

In a small abandoned church

Five days they're away

Before Dally comes back

To give them the all clear

And they drive away safe

Without anymore fear

But children are stuck

In the church that's alight

Ponyboy and Johnny

do what is right

They charge in side

No fear at all

Ponyboy gets out

But Johnny falls

It's all over in a sudden flash

Dallys in hospital too

Johnny's the worst off out of them

And they don't know if he will pull through

Soda and Darry take Pony home

The big rumbles that night

They all grease themselves up

Then go out and get ready to fight

The fight begins with a punch

And danger replaces the fun

But as quickly as it began

There were shouts' Watch the soc's run!"

Dally and Ponyboy set off

To the bed that johnny lies

They tell him they won the rumble

Johnny slowly dies

Ponyboy walks home in daze

He feels very low

Dally rings up in a hurry

He lost it he's gonna blow

He needs somewhere to hide

He's robbed a shop

He has to get away

Before he's caught by the cops

The gang runs to the lot

But they're not fast enough

Dally gets shot a few times

But he dies looking tuff

One week is all it took

To take all three

And even only then

Did it make a few people see

That greasers and socials

Are sort of the same

That they should be equal

Without any of the shame

But for the rest of the town

The feelings are strong

Of loathing and hate

Which hurts ever so long

Where the Greasers roam streets

And the Socials are best

The sun will still set

On the east and the west
