From First View
Quiet and closet-antisocial genius doesn't mix well with the class clown. And that's only the most superficial difference between them.
Sure, there are obvious similarities. Similar ages for one. The fact that they're on their district's soccer team is another. And that they're both Chosen – or, at least, it's a similarity once Ken got over the whole Kaiser stage. And they lived in Japan, had (not anymore, in Ken's case) an older sibling… and that was about the extent of it. Oh, and they were Jogress partners, but whether that counted as a similarity or the same thing wasn't really clear.
As for the differences, there were lots of them. Appearance wise, Ken was a little taller, and thinner as well. Daisuke's hair was wilder. Their hair and eyes and skin tone were all different colours. Ken was good at academics. Daisuke was barely passing with outside help. Daisuke had close friends he could depend on. Ken had almost no-one.
But those things were changing now. Daisuke was getting better with his studies, because the main problem was focus and working at saving the world did wonders for one's focus. And Ken was gaining a friend because one couldn't have a Jogress partner without being at the very least their friend. And that led to bonding with the rest of the team and he was slowly getting more friends.
And maybe it had to be like that, because only a smart opponent would have forced Daisuke to focus as he needed to, and because only a burning sun like Daisuke could have seared through the wall that hid Ken and they were getting towards the best friend stage, even if they didn't seem to go together at all from first view.
