I do not own Girl Meets World. Or Taylor swift's lyrics to the song "Holy Ground".
Chapter 1:
Maya's POV
We were sitting on a bench in the park. Riley was with her headphones on, listening to some pop song. I was deep in my sketchbook, trying to capture this light, this city, her.
Riley is my best friend in the whole world. We have been best friends ever since we met, which has been about ten years ago. We came from such different backgrounds, her being this happy sun-shiny kind of person, who grew up in an amazing apartment with an amazing family, and me being me. Maya Hart, the poor little screw up from this small apartment with only my crazy mother in the picture.
I know what it sounds like, but I am not her charity case. We are our own and each others, me being the best bad influence in her life, and her being the light in mine.
I look at her, sitting, smiling, mouthing the words to herself. Now, she caught me, and was practically yelling the lyrics "Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress, we had this big wide city all to ourselves". I finally recognized the song to be an old taylor swift song. This quote was so cheesy, but also so us.
Riley's POV
She was looking at me with her big eyes, smokey and mysterious. She puts up quite the armor, with her make up, leather jacket and black nail polish, but I knew that inside she was a marshmallow, and marshmallows are my favorite treat.
I tried to sneak a peek at her sketchbook, but she quickly shut it down, and joined the little dance I started. We were dancing and laughing, in the middle of the park, shouting out the lyrics. People quickly started watching us, but not with any criticism in their eyes. They were laughing, enjoying the sight of two soon-to-be high school seniors dancing around in the middle of everything, not really caring at all about anything.
This is until we heard someone yell out "good to see my favorite niece is enjoying her summer vacation!". Of course my uncle is here, being an NYU student on summer break. He soon joined us, danced a little, and then invited us to eat waffles at his favorite brunch place.
