Title: Destruction
Author: bubbles799
Show: Packed to the Rafters
Characters: The Rafter's Boys.
Summary: Regardless of age, boys will be boys.
Disclaimer: PTTR is not mine.
I'm not overly thrilled on this. But it was the only way to get the idea out of my head. Based on Season 4 Episode 2 'In With The New'.

As a boy, the code of growing up is all based around destruction. You build up your lego town, then you destroy it. You sneak into your sister's bedroom, and you destroy it. It's the code of being a boy.

*Flashback*
Rachel Rafter opened up the door to her purple bedroom, tired after her long day of year four. Not only did she have homework (yes, homework!) she was exhausted after her long day on nothingness.
"Oh my god... Mum!"
Julie heard the screech from down the hallway, dropping the empty lunchbox she'd had in her hand and heading for her daughter's bedroom. She stopped next to Rachel at the doorway.
"Look what they did! Ben and Nathan. Again!" Rachel was ropeable.
Her floor was littered with the toys that were meant to be in her toy box. And her books were everywhere. Her room didn't resemble anything like her own bedroom.
"I'll help you tidy it up," Julie said with a sigh.
"Again?" Rachel told her Mum. Julie was frustrated too; this wasn't the first time it had happened. Laughing from behind caused Julie to turn around.
"Benjamin Rafter!" and promptly the bedroom door nearby closed again.
They were boys. And the big sister was the enemy. And the best way to get to her? Destruction.

As the boys grew older, they did develop a little maturity, albeit not much. They still were your typical boys thought. There was no exception.
Council cleanup was around and the street was lined with junk. The boxes were being empty, and Ted, Dave, Ben and Nathan had gathered to see all the stuff lining the verge.
The discussion had begun on Ben's dare devil antics. And then Nathan had literally made him swear it wasn't going to happen.
Dave: Well in that case, you want to spend some energy. Why don't you start by flat packing these boxes.
Ben: Alright. Stand back.
So Ben did what just came naturally. Destruction of the box.
Ben: Yeah!
Dave: One way of doing it I suppose.
Ben: Yep.
With Ben feeling almighty chuffed with himself, Nathan turned to the pile of empty boxes on the other side of the driveway.
Nathan: Umm... The council's not going to wrapped with that; it's not very flat.
Ben: Probably not.
Nathan: No.
Neither Ben nor Nathan needed any more encouragement, for they both launched themselves for the pile. And so the destruction followed, as Ben and Nathan spent the next few minutes flattening and destructing the empty boxes.
Ted: They never get tired of destruction, do they?
Dave: Nup.

But they were boys. And no matter what their age might be, always, always, boys will be boys.

Just something I couldn't get out of my head. The scene with Ben and Nathan jumping on boxes was actually quite priceless.
In the meantime, how are we feeling about Jess Marais' big news? I think it's great for her, and we'll just see how things go.
