Cato's P.O.V
I can't believe I'm in the Capitol. Me and Clove are waiting for the parade to start. This year they made us wear this roman-god like outfit and it is awesome. Finally, they played the national anthem of the capitol which signals that the parade is starting. We waved at the Capitol people and god they look weird. In front of our chariot is district 1, they are wearing some pink feathery costume which is weird. The girl waved at the capitol people and I smiled when I saw her smile. After the parade, I got out of my chariot and I was looking for someone. I saw her alone in the corner and I went straight to talk to her. I tapped her shoulder and I talked to her
"Hey Glimmer!" I smiled
"Cato! I missed you" She hugged me tightly
"I missed you too. So much!" I hugged her tightly and gently strokes her hair
"It's been 5 years Cato" She whispered
"That's a long time Glimmer" I said
"You volunteered" She broke the hug
"Yes I did and you to right?" I looked at her
"I didn't know that you're volunteering the same year as me" She looked down
"Glimmer, don't be upset" I lifted her chin
"I guess your promise will never happen" She said stroking a silver ring on her finger
Flashback
We used to play tag in their garden at district 1. We're 4 years old and we keep on playing til night
"Tag your it!" Glimmer laughed
"I'm faster than you Glimmy" I said running to catch her "Tag your it! Glimmer, I told you" I laughed
"No fair!" She folded her arms an pouts
"Don't be sad. It was just a game" I said
"I don't want to play." She said
"OK then. Let's eat dinner, I'm sure your mom and my mom prepared something already!" I grabbed her hand and we ran to their kitchen
We attended the same training center at the age of 6. She wants to learn how to use bow and arrow. That was her dream when we're 4 years old. I picked sword as my weapon. At the age of 7, Glimmer is starting to master her archery skills. She can shoot the arrow and hits a bulls eye. I learned how to use a sword also, and I'm a fast learner. One time there was a boy who's bullying Glimmer and I punched him in the face.
"He's mean!" Glimmer cried
"Yes he is." I hugged her tightly "Don't worry, He got his lessons" I added
"Thank You" She whispered
"As long as I'm here, No one can hurt you" I kissed her forehead
At the age of 9, We threw knives already. It's fun to throw knives. After training, we go to the ice cream store to eat. Her favorite was cookies and cream and mine is rocky road. When we're 10 years old. We used to spend more time with each other. She loves watching me train in the sword section and she's very proud of me. When we're 12 years old, Our names are now inside a huge bowl containing names of the other kids. We're so glad we're not the ones who got picked. One day I need to tell her some bad news
"What is it Cato?" She asked me
"Glimmer, We're moving" I looked at her
"Moving? Where?" She asked again
"District 2. We need to move their because mom wants us to" I informed her
"Cato, You said you're going to be here for me." Tears rolling down in her eyes
"Don't cry Glimmer" I hugged her
"I wouldn't see you again" She cried
"That's not true Glim. Here's a promise" Wiping her tears with the end of my shirt
"What?" She asked.
I reach something in my pocket. I showed her a silver ring with my name on it
"I promise, I will see you again and when I do I'll marry you. That's a promise" I slid the ring on her finger and kissed it
She smiled and she kissed my cheek.
End of Flashback
"It will happen Glim." I looked at her eyes
"Cato! Only one comes out" She demanded
"We'll both get out Glim. I told you, as long as I'm here. I'm going to protect you" I cupped her face and I gave her a quick kiss on the lips
"I love you Cato" She smiled
"I love you more Glim" I hugged her
