Prompt: Place: Durmstrang
They told Rodolphus that Durmstrang would make a man out of him. He was strong learned to survive the brutality of the place with the help of a boy named Igor Karkaroff.
When his parents sent Rabastan there too, he knew his brother would never cope. Rodolphus biggest fear was that he couldn't protect his brother and he knew it was Rabastan's as well.
He pleaded with his parents to let Rabastan come home and every single time they refused.
The others could sense Rabastan was weak and Rodolphus spent every waking moment, keeping the wolves at bay.

Rabastan nearly died, but still his parents wouldn't allow him to go home.
Rodolphus had no choice after a year of begging and his parents refusing he had to sort out the problem himself. He had only meant to hurt the boy, but rage took over and he just kept on hitting him until he stopped breathing.
No one would dare touch his brother after that everyone was too afraid what Rodolphus would do to them if he found out.
His parents paid for the whole thing to be covered up. It was the only thing they had ever done for him that he was grateful for.

They were boys no more, it was time to prove just what Durmstrang had made them.
It was Rodolphus that was branded with the Dark Mark first. Rabastan a few months later, after constant pressure from their parents.
Once again Rodolphus was thrust into the role of keeping his brother safe. Only this time he had Bellatrix at side and her being the Dark Lord's favourite helped a lot.
When the Dark Lord fell and they went to Azkaban, he couldn't protect his brother anymore, only shout words of comfort in the darkness.
