alright.

I walked out of the old moviehouse, and the light shined in my eyes. I wasn't really moved by the movie, in fact, I didn't even pay attention. It was one of those dumb romance flicks, you know, the girl says she's goin away but then stays cuz the guys tells her he loves her. Stupid. The only reason I was in there was, I was hiding. That's beside the point, though.
It was autumn now, and the winds were blowin my tufts of red hair around. I sat on the curb, and thought. About what? Oh, I don't know. Just stuff. Where I was gonna sleep tonight was my main concern. Last night, I slept in the park. Lately, I'd been sleeping wherever I could. I don't have a home. I used, to, when my mom was alive. She deid a month ago, leaving me to fend for myself. I'd eat snails before I'd be put in an orphanage. So, I was left to hide from the cops, and socs. But I had a place I was tryin to get to. Dallas Winston's place. Ya see, Dally is the guy who found me all beaten up after my first fight, when I couldn't fight. He was actually the one who taught me how to fight. That was a long time ago, back in New York, where I lived with my mom. After my mom was killed, I had come here to find him. He meant a lot to me.
Even though I was just a thirteen year old girl, I could bust up socs pretty well. I'd never seen a girl who could fight better than me. So this was me, Nan Shana, otherwise known as Noshy. I had red hair and brown eyes, and I was thirteen years old. I wore baggy clothes and loved to fight, and I was a greaser.
