Random fluff I thought about while reading a book. Probably AU, as I haven't read manga past 200, but I watched the show, so this is probably after the last episode.

Now that Urahara was back as the second leader (NOT second in command) of the department of research and development, he couldn't really be much happier. He had Yoruichi back as the captain of the second division to have fun with, he could go have some sake with Kyouraku whenever he wanted, and he didn't have to do the paperwork of a captain. Yep, life's good.

He walked into his favorite sake bar, hoping to see some of his friends there, only to find a very depressed Shinigami Women's Association.

"And what's wrong with you young ladies tonight?" Urahara asked, earning a glares from Nanao and Rukia, the latter seeming to be the source of their collective sorrow. Nanao spoke for her, as the small shinigami seemed to be too depressed to talk to him right now.

"Miss Kuchiki has just had to break Kurosaki's heart and she's not happy about it." she said firmly, obviously thinking that Kisuke would leave after that explanation. Instead, the blond-haired man looked thoughtful.

"Why would she have to do that? I assumed they were just too stubborn to admit it." he said, hoping for the whole story. Rukia sighed, deciding to speak to him on her own. Who knows, maybe the man could help?

"He confessed, but we can't! I mean, it's not a problem that he's not a real shinigami, but Ichigo's alive. Whenever he dies, he'll go to one of the districts and forget everything about his life, including me. I can't have that happen." she said sadly, putting her head down on the table again. Urahara looked shocked, but not at the story.

"You didn't know his chain of fate has been severed?" Kisuke asked incredulously, but smiling anyway. All the girls looked up from the table.

"Really?!" the said in unison, nearly causing Urahara to fall backwards.

"Of course. Before he came to Soul Society to rescue Rukia.

I killed him a looooooooooongggggg time ago..."

Rukia was out the door before the 'ago' was even finished.

For Department of Research and Development leader, Kisuke Urahara, it was a nice day.

Cherry blossoms falling onto the field around him, sun shining brightly, no annoyances around to distract him...

"WHY THE HELL DID YOU NEVER TELL ME I WAS DEAD?!"

"You should have already known, Kurosaki!"

He was being chased by an angry (and hollowfied) Ichigo, but it was slightly worth it.

'At least I saw them kiss before he started chasing me.'

Stupidest ending ever, but I don't really care. This was just one of those "I'm bored so I will write." fics.
