Lost (and Found)

Warm smiles. Listening ears. Holding hands.

That's all he is constantly longing for,

A mother who cares,

A father who listens

And a family who would know him more

than he would know himself.

Softer yells. Lesser Noise. Slower smiles.

That's all she is perennially on the search for,

A mother to pour her heart out to

A father to read bedtime stories with

And brothers who'd take her to the skies

with them, instead of leaving her staring on the ground.

Tentative glances. Nervous gestures. Shy smiles.

She peeked at him from behind the shelves,

Staring at him (just as much

as he stared at her)

With questions in her wide eyes

that her lips just couldn't ask.

Jittery hands. Fumbling words. Cautious stares.

The redhead's temper was famous

(As were her rather terrifying siblings)

And he wondered if he was doing the right thing,

Waiting wanting hoping (for the right moment)

That seemed to never come…

She made the first move

(It had always been her)

It began with a smile

That brought a slight colour to his pale cheeks

It soon progressed to conversations

Short

Conscious

Then long, abandoned, rambling

He truly felt alive when she kissed him for the first time

(Again, it had always been her)

He felt his soul stirs in ways

Unimaginable

She felt her heart jump with joy

With the attention he showered her with

In each other they found

Everything they'd truly

Lacked

Needed

Desired

Hoped

and Lost

They were two pieces of a puzzle;

Imperfectly perfect,

Perfectly imperfect.
