Sun cream and downtime
The sun being out meant a lot of things; Barbeques, cycle rides, swimming...the possibilities were endless. The thing Jack liked was going to his cabin, and since the rest of his team had finally agreed to come with him, he was looking forward to two weeks in the middle of no-where with friends.
Jack had accounted for every event possible. Or so he thought. What he didn't realize was that Sam liked to sunbathe when forced to take things easy during sunny downtime. And, when Sam sunbathes, she does it right.
Teal'c was determined to stay indoors as much as possible for some reason, Daniel kept mumbling about how the sun makes him come out in blotches and he would rather stay indoors anyway, and so Sam was pretty much left on her own outside.
She walked past the boys, who were reading and Kel'no'reeming, wearing a flowy summer dress, holding a book and some sun cream, and headed outside. She had been out no longer than ten minutes when Jack came out, fishing rod in hand.
He stopped dead, however, when he got out to where Sam was lying. He had left out a reclining deck chair for her to lie on and had left it by the water. When he had gone out to join her, she was lying on her stomach, reading a book, her back completely exposed as she had untied her yellow bikini top so she didn't get a tan line. It was still on, just not tied up.
"Sir!" She said, jumping up and covering herself with her towel when she saw him.
"Easy Carter, it's ok." Jack said, placing his rod next to his own chair. "It's my fault, I should have thought."
Sam tied up her bikini top and wrapped the towel tighter around her. Sitting back down, she picked up her book and began to read again.
"Carter, you won't get much of a sun tan if you have that wrapped around you, will you?" Jack said as he too sat down and got ready to fish.
"Sir..."
"Carter, you're sun bathing. I don't mind. Why would I?" Jack said, not looking at her.
Sam carefully removed the towel again and lay back, eyes closed, the sun bathing her skin in light and making it glow. Jack couldn't help but turn to look at her now. He found himself wondering if she had enough sun cream on.
"Sir?"
Jack suddenly realized he was staring.
"Sorry. Just wondering if you were wearing sun cream." Why did he just say that out loud?
"Actually, Sir, I think I missed most of my back. Would you..." She held out the bottle.
Jack stood and moved across to Sam, taking the bottle as Sam turned her back to him. Jack knelt down and began to spread the cream over Sam's back. It was so soft, flawless. Jack was mesmerized.
"Sir?" Sam said, turning her head to look at him over her shoulder.
"Sorry." Jack snapped out of it and put the lid back on the bottle, placing it on the ground next to the chair but didn't get up.
Sam turned around to face him. "Thank you, Sir."
"Any time" Jack said quietly. He could feel himself being drawn in towards her. Her lips looked so soft and before he knew it, he found himself leaning in to kiss them.
Sam herself didn't do anything to pull away or stop him. In fact, weather it was the sun, or the fact that they were nowhere near the base, she found herself leaning in to meet his lips.
"Guys, we thought we'd finally come out and join you!" Daniel's voice came from around the side of the house and the two pulled apart, Jack jumping to his feet just in time for Daniel and Teal'c to come round to meet them.
"Sure Danny. Pull up a chair." Jack went back to his chair and picked up his fishing rod and Sam went back to reading her book, without so much as a second glance.
Daniel, as always, was completely oblivious to what he had just walked in on, and neither Jack nor Sam were about to fill him in!
