The Hanged Man is a place for meetings of ill repute and shady characters galore, which is why Norah hardly batted an eyelash when she watched a rather creepy man head up the stairs with a group of bodyguards. It's why she thought nothing of it when she served the nervous-looking red haired elf woman some stew and ale. Creepy men were all too common in Lowtown, and she simply assumed the woman had come in from the Alienage. They were just customers to Norah, and she was more concerned with the drunkard who was trying to lick her. She also thought little of it when Garrett Hawke and company walked in. Hawke was in here all the time with his merry band of elves and apostates. It was his elven friend with the sword who approached the woman. She listened to the conversation between Fenris and the red haired elf. Norah was pleasantly surprised to find that she was Fenris' sister. 'Good for him.' she thought.
She saw Hawke tense then, and look towards the stairs, where the man, Danarius, had appeared. He was clad in mage's robes and staring dead at Fenris. Norah saw Hawke's companions moving into defensive positions, as if to shield the crowd of the Hanged Man from this man. Norah, herself, was tucked safely between the fireplace and Varric.
The fight broke out. There were menwith swords everywhere, and patrons were in the crosshairs. Norah dove out of the way and pulled patrons behind the bar. Thankfully, the Magister's bodyguards were dispatched quickly, but all too quickly he revealed an ace up his sleeve. Demons appeared in all corners of the Hanged Man. They converged around Hawke who was trying
to keep them at bay without setting the bar up in a ball of fire. Now the scale was tipped in the Magister's favour. They now had to contend with both him and the demons.
Norah saw the Rage Demon disappear. She wasn't sure weather or not it was dead; it hadn't let out a 'death knell', as Varric had liked to put it. But no. There it was, behind Aveline. The woman didn't even notice it coming up on her as she hacked away at a Shade. The barmaid knew exactly what she had to do, or risk Kirkwall's guard captain. Norah always had a knife in her bodice, for the more unruly patrons, and she supposed that if a demon didn't count as 'unruly', then she didn't know what did.
Norah ducked and ran low toward a knocked-over table. With a soft yell, she threw the knife. It sank into the demon's head and the horrid thing died with a twisted scream. Aveline finished off the Shade before her and whirled around to face the barmaid. She gave Norah a nod of thanks before rejoining the fight.
