I dare you

Hermione granger sat out by the lake the night after her graduation ceremony, thinking back on things she did, people she met, friends she lost, and some one who never gave her the chance.

God only knows how I've needed a friend
Who can see the boldness and pride
Someone strong enough I can put my faith in
Someone willing to let me inside
So be a man and be my man

Only one person stood out in her mind as a person as lonely as she in a crowd. Only one person whom she wanted but never noticed her. Sitting in his dungeons he watched her though, with out her knowing. And she gave a silent dare to him everyday. And tonight.

He wanted her, but she was forbidden, the war was over but in their hearts a battle still reined, she was too young, he told himself, too innocent. She knew what he had done and what he thought but she didn't care.

She let him be free around her, never judging, but always there. She had worked with him all year, helping him with potion projects and trying to get to become an apprentice under him, and slowly she realized she loved him, and after an entire year together, he knew very little about her, while she knew more about his life then ever, and yet wanted to know all of it.

He watched her every day, and soon came to love her in his own right,

But he could never tell her that. But he wanted to.

She wanted him to feel, but it seemed like his heart was frozen, she wanted to feel his touch, and kiss his lips, but she knew that day would never come. And she would go with out ever him knowing.

And so she sat out here one this rock staring up at the summer sky alone, with tears of regret running their course, while her friends danced the night away in their last attemps at being kids for one more night. And she only wanted one person who had no heart at all.

Some one tapped her shoulder and she turned around, staring back at her was Severus Snape, tears of his own in his eyes not yet fallen, "Hermione, I accept your dare." He whispered and kissed her softly on the lips. The piece of musical parchment, with the song playing softly from it, flew out of his hand as he cupped the side of her face. He pulled away and whispered, "I dare you," and they both smiled.
