First Ouran fanfic, so tell me how I did, ne?

Disclaimer: I don't own Ouran High School Host Club.

The twins were perfectly fine.

That is, until she came along.

She disrupted everything, she threw it off balance.

Maybe she was good for them, maybe she was needed, but she still did it.

She still ruined.

Actually, there was no maybe about it.

She was needed.

She made them realize things they had not before.

She was Haruhi Fujioka.

But in the end, she still spread the damage.

No matter how much she helped, she had still yet destroyed.

In her wake, the twins—Hikaru and Kaoru—were left drowning.

For as she had been able to recognize them, realize who they were, individually, she had been breaking their world.

Their carefully constructed wall that was built was broken.

Finally.

Yet all broken things have the ability to harm.

Broken mirrors have sharp shards.

Broken hearts leave sharp scars.

Broken barriers leave sharp vulnerability.

And that was it.

The twins were vulnerable.

So as their world spiraled out of control, they clung to the only solid thing, the only thing familiar.

Each other.

Perhaps it was wrong—actually, there was no perhaps about it, yet again.

It was wrong.

Maybe.

Their feelings that they didn't know what to do with—those that were supposed to be directed at Haruhi—they directed at each other.

Interest. Attraction. Love.

All emotions that they forced upon the other.

Doing that gave them balance.

It was like a constant battle, who could push more emotions onto the other.

It hurt them, forcing those emotions upon themselves.

For as they cast out those emotions, so they were bounced back at them.

For now, their balance would hold.

For now, their world was still—no longer spinning.

For now, they could live their life as they pleased.

But…

Battles are harsh.

Battles are bloody and hellish.

Battles are always won.

And in this case…

Which twin would come out victorious?

I'm not quite sure what I achieved with this, but I think it turned out pretty well (for a drabble, of course).

I purposely wrote it so that it could encompass several different scenarios.

If you like, you can imagine it as a Kaoru/Hikaru love story, or you could see it as the reason why they act like they love each other in the host club, or any other sort of perception.

Have fun interpreting it in your own way (the drabbles that let me do that are always my favorite…)!

Thanks for reading!

Review, please!
