The Transfiguration Project

The year after the Second Wizarding War, McGonagall gives her 7th year N.E.W.T class a project. Astoria Greengrass and Ginny Weasley never expected to be paired together, let alone become friends after it. Astoria/Ginny FRIENDship, Hinny, Drastoria, slight Romione. T for slightly mature themes and some course language.

"Welcome to N.E.W.T level transfiguration," began Professor McGonagall. The 7th year students stared back at her. They had begun N.E.W.T level transfiguration the year previously, however they all knew McGonagall considered the previous year to have been a waste of learning.

"It's not easy to get into this class and I know you are all perfectly capable of passing your transfiguration N.E.W.T if you put a bit of effort in, so I am presuming that you all will not disappoint me." She continued. This class had a mix of all the houses in it, 4 Gryffindors, 2 Hufflepuffs, 5 Ravenclaws and 3 Slytherins.

"To begin the term, we will be working on a project in groups of two," the class volume level began to rapidly increase, with housemates pairing up with each other.

"Which I have already picked." McGonagall told them, causing a collective groan from the class. Luna Lovegood rose her hand.

"Yes, Miss Lovegood?" said McGonagall.

"What is our project about?" Luna questioned.

"As you all know, Hallowe'en is next month, and you will all be required to transfigure regular objects into decorations for different sections of the castle." McGonagall revealed. Hal

"Each pair will be different part of the grounds or castle to decorate," she continued. "I shall now tell you which two students will be doing what," McGonagall cleared her throat.

"Luna Lovegood and Zacharias Smith will be decorating the Entrance Hall," she told the class. She continued to reel names of the list.
"Ginny Weasley and Astoria Greengrass will be decorating the Great Hall."

Ginny, who was from Gryffindor, gasped. Astoria, who was a member of Slytherin house did the same. They stared at each other. A Gryffindor and a Slytherin working together? Merlin knows what McGonagall was thinking.

However, perhaps it wouldn't be as bad as both girls thought.

A/N: Heyyyyy. I've been really inactive and I apologize for that. I'm terrible with updating my fics, however I'm going to try really hard with this one. This story will contain Ginny/Astoria as a FRIENDship, and Hinny and Drastoria as the romantic ships, with hints of Romione.

This is just a prologue so that's why it's so short. Future chapters will be longer.

I decided to write this story because I wanted to explore Astoria more (since we know literally nothing about her, except that she ends up marrying Draco) without writing a typical Drastoria story.
