Waiting for You

same time, same place

"Hey Hinata! Wanna go shopping?"

The bell rang, marking the end of class. A very timid girl with long black hair quickly turned around. It was her friends and one of them, Ino Yamanaka, waited for her answer. Beside Ino were Sakura Haruno and Tenten arguing whether Kakashi-sensei is homosexual or not.

"Uhm…sure, I-I'll just catch up with you later," Hinata replied then dashed to the school corridors. She could still hear Ino wining "Not again." Hinata could feel the cool hair as she ran towards the exit. She nearly bumped into Iruka-sensei (whom Sakura and Tenten suspected as Kakashi's male lover), carrying tall pile of book reports.

Really, she should be caught by now for running in the corridors if not for her father ("How dare you reprimand my daughter, you insolent fools!"). She was somewhat thankful for having a loving (read: proud) father.

She finally halted at the bus stop, panting. Her light lavender eyes searched the street. But instead she heard a loud male voice that made her heart miss a beat.

"I WANT RAMENNNN!"

Hinata finally found him at him opposite side of the street. The #1 knucklehead student of Konoha High, Naruto Uzumaki. With him was Hinata's cousin, Neji, Shikamaru Nara, and Sasuke Uchiha.

Hinata heard the pineapple-head genius complained how troublesome Naruto was and her cousin nodded in agreement. The black-haired Uchiha muttered 'idiot' then sighed. The girl watched them, lovestruck.

People didn't know why this beautiful young lady was so in love with the thick-headed moron. (Though Hinata never intentionally made her feelings obvious; her constant stuttering and fainting when Naruto's around gave it away)

But to her dismay, she had this feeling that he only sees her as a friend. Even Neji, whom she begged to spy on Naruto, say so. ("Give it up, cousin. He only talks about stupid concerns such as ramen.)

Sighing, she absentmindedly turned around and walked back. Maybe a little shopping would make her forget the disappointment for a while.

"SEE YA TOMORROW, HINATA-CHAN!"

And there was Naruto, still on the other side of the street, yelling like a maniac to Hinata's amazement.

Maybe she should hang in there. Just in case. After all, there's no harm in trying.

Hinata gave Naruto her brightest smile and waved back.

She'll wait for him. She'll wait for him to realize how much she loves him. She'll wait for him at the same bus stop, hoping, watching him dissolve in the sea of people…
