Kits. I couldn't believe it. I was expecting kits. But I was only an apprentice! How could this happen? I slunk out of Riverclan camp and raced to the Windclan border. I needed to find him, I needed to tell him!
I slowed down when I reached the border. There he was, sitting at the border, wind blowing his long dark gray fur around. Rainfur. His blue eyes lit up when he saw me, and he pelted over the border.
"Flowerpaw," he purred, nuzzling my cheek affectionately.
I pushed myself away from him, my heart breaking. "We need to stop," I whispered.
"What? Why? Did someone find out?"
"No. It's just..." I hung my head. "I'm expecting your kits." I looked up when I said this, and the look in his eyes wasn't anger, sadness or dismay. He was happy.
"Why are you happy? This isn't a good thing!" I wailed.
"Yes it is," Rainfur murmured, and stroked my cheek with his tail. "They'll be our little kits. They'll be able to swim fast in the water, and run fast on land. They'll be our little warriors," Rainfur purred.
I sighed. "But we still have to stop meeting. If someone finds out..." I couldn't finish. Who knew what could happen? "How about if any of the kits look like you, I'll bring them to you," I suggested. "I'll meet you here in a moon."
Rainfur nodded and nuzzled my cheek one last time before turning away and vanishing over the border. That was when my heart broke in two.

Three kits. Petalkit was calico she-cat, just like me. Stormkit was a large dark gray she-cat, just like her father, and Stonekit was a gray tom. I went to the border in the middle of the night, and gave Rainfur Stormkit and Stonekit. It broke my heart to say goodbye to my kits, and when they were gone, I slunk back to camp. I would pretend that Rainkit and Stonekit had been stolen when I went to make dirt. No one would question me or Palestar because I was Palestar's daughter. I curled up around the shivering Petalkit, and all I could think about were my kits.

"Petalfur! Petalfur!" I cried my daughter's name the loudest. Petalfur purred and bounded over to me.
"Now we can go on patrols together, Flowerfeather!" She exclaimed.
The next night was the Gathering. Wavestar announced that they had two new warriors: Stormfur and Stonepelt. I cheered for my other two kits as loud as I had cheered for Petalfur. I met Rainfur's gaze across the clearing. It was filled with pride and happiness. I let out a long sigh. Maybe life wouldn't be so bad without all of my kits after all.
