Hi! This is a short fluffy one shot I wrote as part of a little comp between me and LadyFrancescaPendragon—we both gave ourselves the same prompt and we'll see who gets the most reviews/favs! Enjoy fellow Downtoners! :)

It was a drear winter's evening as Tom made his way back from work. It was only five o'clock but the sky was already dark and the night was drawing in. Tom pulled up the collar of his coat, holding it to his throat in an attempt to shield himself from the bitter evening air. He reached the flat, hurriedly pulled the freezing key out of his pocket, unlocked the front door and went in, hanging his coat on a peg in the hall. Sybil was in the kitchen, her stockinged feet propped up on a stool by the range, a cup of tea in her hands, and she smiled brightly at Tom as he entered. The small room looked warm and cheerful, the soft firelight flickered about the walls and on Sybil's face, and it was a welcoming sight after the chill night outside.

"Hello," Sybil greeted him, sitting up from her semi-reclined position, she looked serenely calm and glowing with contentment.

'Hello," Tom replied, going to her and kissing her.

"There's tea on the range if you want some," she said softly. Tom poured himself a cup and pulled up a chair next to Sybil.

"How's your day been?" she asked.

"Good. The editor wants me to write an article on the strikes," Tom replied enthusiastically.

"That's good," Sybil answered.

"But what about you? Mother told me you had an appointment with Dr Mcragh. Is something wrong?"

"No," Sybil smiled, "She wasn't supposed to tell you. But it doesn't matter now."

"Sybil, what is it?" Tom asked, curious and slightly puzzled.

Sybil gazed up at him, her eyes radiant. "I'm pregnant."

"What?" Tom said, with a shock that quickly turned to delight. "Darling!" He said hugging her close. Sybil held him tightly, laughing with happiness. "I love you," he smiled, looking at her with adoration, and she leant forward and kissed him.
