Many teens in the world say they're depressed.
There are some that simply use it as a "mood." Something bad happens, someone doesn't like them back, they get a bad grade on a paper. They're sad for a very short amount of time.
Other people actually do have mild depression. At times they lose interest in their favorite activities, develop insomnia, and feel hopeless.
Then there are some that have severe depression. Severe depression is when people attempt suicide or have delusions.
When I was young and naive I thought depression was dumb. Just go find a friend to cheer you up and everything will be right with the world. Now I understand. Depression is an ocean, a never ending void. It comes in waves and every wave will either make new problems surface or pull old problems away. Imagine you're sitting in a rowboat. There's a hole in the bottom and you're frantically bailing water out. Pretty soon you're under water. Drowning. Drowning in your own tears.
I'm drowning. I'm drowning and no one can hear me scream. It's not that they're too far away. They're just not listening.
