House Party
Abraxas snorted loudly as he was startled awake. What the hell was that noise? He had work in the morning. He fumbled around, looking for his phone. "Hello?" he grumbled.
"Ab?"
"Ares? What's—it's three in the morning? Is everything okay?"
"I need your help."
The drive took an hour. When he pulled up in front of his house, he literally growled. There were cars all over the lawn, beer cans everywhere, people making out all over the place. "I'm going to fucking kill him." He grabbed the megaphone he used for basketball practice at the Y. Standing on the lawn, he yelled into it. "The cops have been called! You have twenty minutes to get out!"
There was mass chaos as the teens left. Somehow, he managed to catch all the cars to make sure the drivers were sober. After a few switches, he let them all go.
"Ab…."
Abraxas stormed into the house past his brother. "Where are the girls?"
"In their rooms. Why?" he asked, following his brother up the stairs.
Abraxas tried the door. It was locked. He pounded on it. "Allie! Ava!"
A couple seconds later, it swung open. Allie stood there, looking pissed. "Oh! It's you. I was wondering why all the noise cut out."
"I just wanted to check on you."
"Please," she said, rolling her eyes. "We came up here and locked the door as soon as the hockey team showed up."
"Good thinking," Abraxas said. "Glad someone was," he added, glaring at Ares.
"Come on…like you never did anything stupid in high school," Ares snapped.
"I never threw a party with underaged drinking that our very high profile mothers could get in trouble for! You know if anyone had gotten hurt tonight? They'd be responsible. And the reason I ran up here to check on Allie and Ava is because there were at least a hundred kids here tonight. There's no way to keep track of them all. So what's to stop some horny drunk asshole from roofie-ing one of the girls and raping her?"
Ares paled. "Come on, Ab…nothing happened."
"Luckily. When are Moms getting back?"
"Sometime tomorrow afternoon," Allie said.
"Great. You," he said, turning to Ares, "are staying home and helping me clean this place up. God help you if we're not done when they get here. Go to sleep. I'm waking you up at six."
Ares shuffled off to his room, head down.
Abraxas sighed. "Night you two." He closed their door and walked down the hall to his room. Pushing open the door, he dialed his bosses office number. "Hey Cora, it's Abraxas. Look, I know it's my Saturday to work at the gallery, but I'm going to have to take a personal day. Family emergency. See you on Monday."
"I didn't plan it, you know."
He looked up to see Ares standing there.
"I invited the basketball guys and some friends from theater. It just got out of hand."
"I figured as much. Get some sleep. We'll talk tomorrow."
