I do not own Hetalia or IHOP!

A/N: Happy Canada day, ya'll. And I hope you guys don't mind a little OC/Canada awesomeness! Also, forgive me if my facts are wrong, I have no idea if there are IHOPs in England.

Maple and Peaches

It was a rainy morning in the country of England as Matthew Williams, A.K.A. the personification of Canada, awoke in his hotel room. The sky outside was gray and dreary and that was definitely affecting his outlook on life. It was July 1st, his birthday, and he knew no one was going to remember. Again. He couldn't even find Kumajiro. The only reason he was in England at that moment was because of a World Conference being held there, all the countries were supposed to be there.

So, as he got up and got dressed, he pondered what to do until the meeting started. He had until noon and it was only 8 a.m. His stomach growled, alerting him to hunger. He did not want to pay overly expensive room service charges, 'Arthur's prices are seriously ridiculous here!' And so, he decided to go to IHOP. Needless to say, it was one of his favorite restaurants because no one would judge him if dumped maple syrup all over whatever he ordered even if it was not pancakes.

So, he hailed a taxi cab and headed to the nearest IHOP. He was soon escorted to a table by himself and after ordering way too much breakfast food for one person, he was alone again. Contemplating his day so far and the upcoming meeting, he didn't notice when someone came over to his table and tapped him on the shoulder. He looked up into those blue eyes, the eyes he could never forget, even if he tried. He was looking into the eyes of none other than Anarixa Kirkland, England's adoptive sister.

Now, she wasn't a country or even a state, she was just some girl Arthur had found and taken in, but he spoiled her as if she were his own. She was also the girl that Matthew was desperately in love with. "Hey, Mattie. Mind if I join you?" She looked at him with her innocent eyes and he knew he couldn't say no. Actually, he didn't know if he could say anything, so he just nodded. She slid into the seat across from him, smiling all the while. And oh did that smile take his breath away. How many days had he dreamed of something like this, it was almost like a date.

"Um… So, I don't know if I'm like the last to say this today but… Happy birthday!" He looked up, wrenched away from his thoughts. "You remembered?" He looked over at, incredulously. "Yeah, you're my friend, why wouldn't I remember?" She giggled, rummaging in her purse for something. A few seconds of silence happened until she found what she was looking for. "Ah ha! Here it is! I didn't really know what to get you, but I hope this makes you happy!" She held out a small envelope to him.

He received the envelope and slowly tore it open. Inside was a card, it had the usual birthday greetings but towards the bottom, it said 'Happy birthday, Mattie. My present to you is one favor. I will do whatever you ask me to because I really want you to have a good birthday. Love, Anarixa." He hoped he wasn't blushing as so many thoughts ran through his head. "May I claim that favor now?" He whispered, but the look on her face told him she had heard. "Sure, what do you want?" He finally settled on one idea as he blurted it out, "I want you to go on a date with me."

Hey eyes widened and he was afraid she would reject him, she had every right to. She deserved someone better, someone more like Alfred. And what she said next shocked him, "Matthew Williams, I have been waiting to hear you say that for six years now. Of course I will." She leaned across the table and kissed him; he tasted of maple syrup and she tasted of peaches and cream. This was a day Canada would never forget, the first date he ever had with the love of his life.
