Everyone whistled at her on the street. Everyone, under the age of eighteen, except one green boy crossing the street. He incidentally was walking in her direction – on his way home, and that is probably why she noticed him.
"Hey you." She winked at him.
He stopped and stared at this gesture, he's seen it once before but wasn't sure what it meant exactly. He contemplated returning the gesture and leaving but he had a feeling in his squeedily spooch that this was not the type of gesture that he wanted to participate in.
"Don't just stand there, would you like to carry my books, since you're going my way?"
"Zim needs no books." He shifted his weight.
"Okay…" She stammered. He'd seen her before, yes, she was one of the popular ones, the ones that the rest of the school oogled over. Except him, and a few people in high school who seemed to have their own lives, like Dib and his evil sister. "Well, would you mind if I walked next to you."
"Zim needs no companionship if you're looking for friendship."
Another whistle in the background, Zim was thankful for his muffling wig over his antennae.
"We don't have to be friends." She continued to walk near him. "I'm just walking your way. It's a nice day."
Zim nodded out of unsure what to do. He had already said he did not require companionship – should he tell her to go away? This ran over his pak for a moment while comparing it to normal human interactions. There were still a few people around his way home that he didn't want to raise attention.
Someone woo'ed out the window of a muscle car and invited Tonya in for a ride but she declined.
"I swear." She breathed. "I just want to walk sometimes, yknow?"
Zim looked back and forth. He was pretty sure telepathy was not apart of human culture still.
"Oh you probably want to walk alone don't you?" She asked.
Zim nodded.
"That's fine. I'll let you go. I'll walk on the other side now. Sometimes I like to walk alone too. I just was hoping to talk to someone. Goodbye, kid in my biology class."
Zim continued to walk as if she didn't turn off. He found his way home and relaxed a little in the doorway.
