My apologies if this one-shot feels at all rushed. I seriously wrote all of this in thirty minutes xD xD xD It came out a lot shorter than i had expected... Oh, well! ;)
So, as you shall see, this one-shot takes place only a few days after Miracles Formed From Love ends. I hope you enjoy little Mira talking! ;) ;)
I DO NOT OWN PHINEAS AND FERB. ANY CHARACTER YOU DO NOT RECOGNIZE IS PROBABLY MINE
"Mommy, my tail hurts." I woke up to a little squeak. I cracked an eye open and saw my little girl Mira staring up at me.
I blinked in sympathy. She had hatched only a few days before. Mira was mine and Perry's daughter, and she had nearly died. While I was pregnant with her, a piece of the eggshell had broken off of her egg and bounced into the egg, cutting up my baby who was inside. Mira now had a large scar on her tail; a scar that had nearly been fatal.
It was the middle of the night. Mira had woken me up from my sleep. I had lived in the forest until I realized that something had gone wrong with my pregnancy. I then basically lived in a medical office for about a month, before Perry convinced me to try and live at his owners' house. I had agreed to try two weeks here.
Like I said, it had been three days. And, so far, I actually didn't mind it. It was definitely safer for Mira than the forest would have been. But I had been scared of humans my whole life, and a few good days in their house wasn't enough to cure my fear. Perry and I slept downstairs in a- quite comfortable- bed, and two of the boys in Perry's host family had made a special bed for Mira, so she could sleep near us. Perry was still asleep next to me.
After squeaking what she did, Mira looked back and forth between my tail, her tail, and Perry's tail. "Why does my tail look so different from your's and Daddy's?"
I inhaled sharply. Mira's scar was a long red gash through her tail- and since Mira had- and was going to have- it all her life, she didn't realize it wasn't normal. Until tonight. She was quite smart for her age.
Finally, I thought of something to say. "Because you're special."
"Oh." Mira was silent, but I could see tears begin to form in her eyes. "Then I don't like being special! It hurts, Mommy! It hurts really badly!"
That nearly killed me. Mira began crying, and I gently nuzzled her with my beak. "Hey, you know what I do when something hurts me and makes me sad?"
"What?"
"I think of things that make me happy. Like you."
Mira giggled. "And Daddy?"
I smiled and glanced over at Perry, who was still asleep next to me. "And Daddy. What can you think of that makes you happy?"
My daughter that for a moment. "You and Daddy," she said finally. "And playing with Phineas and Ferb." Oh, right! Those were the two boys who had made the bed for Mira. It made me slightly uncomfortable that Mira enjoyed playing with them- she was only three days old and she had nearly died- but, for boys, Phineas and Ferb were quite gentle.
"Well, there you go." I smiled. "Keep thinking of that. Does your tail hurt now?"
Mira blinked. "Not as much," she mused thoughtfully, "but it still hurts. It won't stop hurting." She paused. "Could I sleep with you and Daddy tonight?"
I grinned. "Sure, sweetheart."
My little girl squeaked in excitement and began crawling onto the bed. She squeezed in between Perry and I and nuzzled into both of our pelts.
That woke Perry up. He cracked an eye open and looked down at Mira and smiled before looking up at me. I smiled back and nuzzled his beak. We both then closed our eyes, and I rested my head on my paws again. I had my mate and my daughter; that was all that mattered. And, eventually, Mira would get used to her tail. That I knew.
Anyone squealing from the cuteness? xD xD xD
