Based on the award winning fanfic A Breach of Faith by Maverick87.
It won Best Sonic. Every year.
The Best Sonic. In the awards. Yes.
Raped to death by cornwallace and Swiper. No swiping.
We're starting at the end.
Because the end is the beginning, and the beginning is the end.
Sonic and me, we're standing on top of an apartment building.
Any old apartment building.
Some people lived here once.
Now it's on fire.
"Don't move," says the megaphone.
Most of Mobotropolis is on fire.
Behind me, skyscrapers are burning.
The smoke is making it very hard to breathe.
Thick, dark, structure fire smoke.
Of course it doesn't help that my cheek is torn open.
That makes it hard to breathe as it is.
It's funny.
I can open it like I'm opening my mouth to say something and tongue flops out through the hole.
It makes me want to laugh.
Sonic put that hole there.
"We have you surrounded. There's nowhere else you can run."
Sonic and me, we're on top of this burning apartment building, me with a hole in my face. Blood and saliva dripping down my chest.
But really, you should see him.
The police lights are all trained on him, of course.
Because he's Sonic the Hedgehog.
The lights stretch his shadow across the rooftop, enveloping me.
Like always, I'm stuck in his shadow.
Of course he's the only one they care about.
Sonic the fucking Hedgehog.
Even with his belly ripped open and his guts hanging out, he's still considered a threat.
"Surrender or we will shoot."
I was the one who made that hole.
You think I'm bad, you should see the other guy.
Ha, ha. Get it?
The other guy is laughing, blood spilling from his intestines on the roof.
And beneath us, at the base of the apartment building, thirty squad cars are watching him laugh. Disemboweled and still standing somehow. And laughing.
"You can't kill me, Tails," he says.
He can barely contain himself.
Holding his intestines and shaking.
I want to tell him that I have to.
You see, Sonic and me, we can't exist in the same world anymore.
We can't be friends.
We aren't friends anymore.
But we couldn't be friends, even if we wanted to be.
One of us must die. And if it's not going to be me, it has to be Sonic.
I want to tell him all this but I can't speak.
Because the asshole ripped my face off.
So I just stand there and drool blood as he laughs at me.
"Sonic the Hedgehog," he manages before he coughs up a wad of dark fluid.
Doubles over for a second.
Then he recovers.
He looks at me.
Smiles a bloody smile.
Surrounded by a halo of light.
"Sonic the Hedgehog will never die," he says.
The end.
Now we can begin again.
