The Captains Duty
Prologue
In seven years Kirkwall experienced more than most would count as a probability, in seven years many terrible things happened and many great things. Seven years is all it took for the great city to be destroyed twice. In history for such events there are always a starting point and of course the seven years of trials Kirkwall suffered had such a starting point…the latest blight. Blights change history and make history, blights can destroy nations but create legends and this Blight failed to do the first but in the end. There were legends.
The cause of in Ferelden all would remember the Grey warden A Dalish woman whose selfless sacrifice saved a nation torn apart by treachery and war. A simple elf of the dales was enough to stop an Archdemon and save a nation.
Kirkwall itself gained a legend, it gained a champion. Hawke, child of an apostate and noble of Kirkwall, brother to two, friend to some, respected by all. His arrival in Kirkwall was not the single event that started the changes but he would become the center of all that would happen in these years.
Wealth returning to a city giving rise to crime in the form of gangs and thieves. A Qunari battle brought on by his decisions and the lack of control of the rulers. The dissolution of the circle. Each of these events had Hawke as the center the cataclyst that would bring change in waves across the city.
In the aftermath of the Circles dissolution Hawke was gone, siding with the mages as one would expect having grown with a mage sister and a mage father (Some whisper he himself was plagued by magic) when the time to choose sides came it was to no one's surprise that Hawke chose to side with his blood's legacy, with the mage's. All of his companions would leave Kirkwall all that is but two. Sebastian the last prince of Starkhaven would face his coronation and become king however his reign signaled a revival of the Chantry unseen in other providences. Fenris once a slave now a mercenary who takes specific missions in either hunting those proven blood mages or slaver. Merril would return to the Dalish a repentant first given the chance to reclaim the title she was in line for. Isabella returned to the seas the queen of the waves yet again. Varric has been cooperating with the chantry in undoing some of the chaos while the last known companion Tallis has returned to the Qun. As for the Hawke brothers the reports vary some claim Hawke remained with Isabella as pirates on the open seas, some that he helps Fenris as closer than any mercenary partner has ever been, while others claim he remains by Merril's side. In these stories Carver stays with his brother however there are variants of him trailing the Dalish looking for something or someone but this seems highly unlikely.
Of the two who remain in Kirkwall one rots in the ground, given a paupers grave and buried with no love, his rotting face swells inside of a sack six feet in the ground, the apostate Anders the friend who betrayed and started a war for his own beliefs. The other of course is the Guard Captain still Aveline. Of course this is the one who you request reports on but I must question why you still persist in trying to catch her in trouble. True she did oppose us in the circle incident but she has beyond proven her worth as a captain is it not better to let bygones be bygones?
Respectfully Sarrick Thereon Captain of first unit.
