Soothing Ambience
"What are you doing…?"
Kasumi and Hatsuharu were currently at the park, enjoying a relaxing day of clear weather. The couple shared a bench, Kasumi listening to music softly with Hatsuharu lying on his back, his head gently resting atop of the lap of his companion. A bit startled at the question, for neither one had spoken for quite some time, Kasumi looked down to notice that she had been absentmindedly running her hands through his hair.
"Oh...I hadn't even noticed... Would you prefer it that I stopped…?" she asked him, temporarily retracting her hands.
Hatsuharu kept silent, not immediately answering the question. Kasumi did not mind, though; they never really talked much around each other, rather preferring the comfortable silence that seemed fall upon them whenever they were together. She did not press him on the matter, waiting patiently for his reply.
"...no," he finally responded after some time. "I like it...it feels nice."
A slight smile founds its way to Kasumi's face, and she continued on with her previous actions. Gently, she ran her hands through Hatsuharu's hair, occasionally stopping to work through a knot or just to play with the strands in general. Neither spoke a word, simply enjoying the soothing ambience of being together.
Just a short ficlet that popped into my mind... Originally written in second person with "you", I had to alter it a bit...
