"Why does Jefferson have to be so much like himself!" Alexander complained, shoving his face into a pillow, lying on his bed.

"People tend to be themselves, seeing as there aren't many other options," John replied smoothly.

"Not now, Laurens."

"I'm being serious. Some people are going to give you a rough time, and you just have to deal with them the best you can."

"Stop being the reasonable one, it makes me look bad," Alexander sighed, his voice muffled a bit by the pillow.

John laughed. "I don't think there's anyone watching us right now."

"You can never really know, life itself is a mystery."

John reached over and put a hand on the pillow and gave it a light tug. "Alex, take that pillow away from your face." Alexander removed his face from the pillow for a second to look at John, then shoved the pillow against his face again.

"No."

John grabbed the pillow and pulled on it, and Alexander pushed the pillow against hs face with everything he had.

"Surrender!" John hissed as he forcefully tugged on the pillow.

"Never!" Alexander still had a tight grip. Suddenly, John let go and Alexander hit the back of the bed hard.

"Ow…" Alexander rubbed the back of his head.

"You should've taken the pillow away from your face, love."

"I should've known bad things happen when I don't listen to you." Alexander rolled his eyes.

John kissed Alexander's hand. "Yes, very true."
