AN: In English we had to write a poem where we describe something in 13 ways, and I chose to describe Merlin, kind of from Merlin's point of view. Kind of.
I
A sweltering city, bustling with people and yet shadowed in a thick layer of ice
Arrivals are greeted with a show
And they leave with their hearts beating wildly
Banging inside their chests
II
Before anyone can understand, they have to see
Yet they have been blinded
Their eyes permanently jaded with green
And gold
III
Everything passes in blurs of rainbows
Colors blend into dreams and fortunes
Voices whisper of prophecies
And betrayals
IV
None wonder beyond a passing glance
None grant pardons, and few question anything
But behind closed doors, some begin to watch the shadows twist
V
Small things can come back to haunt even the greatest warriors
And though warnings scream in the wind
A heart of gold cannot bare to watch a storm wreck havoc
VI
A hurricane, a typhoon is coming
But a single sailor can not save an entire voyage alone
Still, there are less experienced seamen
Who may yet turn the tides
VII
Whipping in the wind, old friends are pulled into a veil of darkness
A single person cannot save an entire voyage
But that doesn't mean they will not try
VIII
Screaming in the wind,
Scrambling for purchase on a jagged edge
Falling would pull down the entire mountain,
But holding on is making your hands turn raw
IX
Four pillars stand above you, but slowly each falls and crumbles
You catch them still, before they can join the frothing mist below
But the fifth pillar is tottering beyond your reach
X
A scream rips from your throat as the pillars drop
They crumble through your fingers like sand
And they rip through the storm with a whisper of a goodbye
XI
Every truth that was told to you proves itself with a harshness greater
Than your gentle heart could ever have dreamed
You scream and you cry and you beat your hands against the ground
You shout that you had prepared
You had been ready
XII
All turns to silence
Faces turn to the pyre
But not yours
Yours turns to the water
XIII
And a single drop rolls down your cheek.
AN: Sorry, that was kind of dark, just wanted to post it. Hope you think it's okay.
