"Holly, breakfast" Edmund Macoy shouted to his daughter at the opposite end of their single-story house in New Brunswick "I made pancakes!"

Holly came running to the small table in the kitchen, still in her pajamas. She was tall, had golden hair, freckles, and four wrist bands on her right arm. Her father sat down placing three plates, one carrying five homemade pancakes in a flower-like design, on the table. "So…" Holly began "How's the new job?" she smiled.

"It's interesting" her father answered

"Oh come on" Holly laughed "you can tell me more than that"

"We spent two weeks learning how to reload a rifle… over and over again"

"Really?"

"I know it will get more exciting soon"

After the two finished their breakfast, Edmund rose and told Holly "Go get ready for school okay?" Holly jumped up and proceeded to her bedroom. Holly was homeschooled, the Macoys could not afford public education for Holly.

Just then, Edmund received a call from the armed forces base. "Holly wait" he called. "hm?" Holly replied.

"I got to go to work" Edmund said urgently

"what's happening?" Holly replied concerned

"there's no time for explanations" He said running to his daughter. He picked her up and hugged her. He then darted for his gear. "Love you" He shouted back through the now open doorway.

"You stay alive eh" Holly said, as she normally does when her father leaves for work.
