In 2006 some deep sea divers found a trunk. It looked very different and unusual as they put it. They brought it to the surface. It took some time to jiggle the lock. But soon the trunk was opened. They all were amazed at what they discovered. They discovered a old Victorian tin can filled with letters, a ink quill with ink, and a mysterious green rose. But one of the most shocking things that was found was a skeleton. Scientists studied the skeleton and came up with little information. It was a girl about eighteen. She had lost a lot blood. Had a bullet wound in the stomach that was never taken out. And she wore a emerald bracelet that today would cost millions. They looked at the bracelet and they could come up with little information. It was worn all the time apparently. It had blood splattered on it which could be from her or as some believe came from a unlucky opponent that she faced. They studied the Victorian tin can. And found that it hadn't been used as her bracelet. She must of taken good care of it because it still showed the engravings. The engraving was of a pirate girl about her age wearing a red bandanna, a white shirt, and breaches. Her red hair was let loose flying in the wind. Later they found that there was words engraved on it. It took much time but everyone finally agreed it read :
To my sweet Piratess. The love of my life.- Your Ben
This created even more of a mystery! Who was this Ben? Were they married? What happened to him? Why did he make this for her?
Scientists were puzzled about the green rose. Did this Ben give it to her? If so where did he find it? What island could support life like that? And most of all…
How did it stay undecaying all those years?
Inside the tin can scientists made another discovery. There were pirate doubloons found in the ink bottle!! Strange place to put your money even for back then. They were dated 1632. The golden age of piracy! Later they found that they were solid gold! This was a great find! Also inside of the ink bottle was a solid gold ring! It was engraved with the words. "Dead men tell no tell no tales." They believe that it also was form this Ben that it appears she had strong ties with.
