Chapter One: The Ditch

It was a dark, cold morning in Grand Metropolis. Evil, gray rainclouds peppered the sky. The city once again felt empty as everything seemed still. The only bright thing about the morning was an albino hedgehog, bruised and lying in a ditch.

He stirred a little, groaning as he sat up, rubbing his head. He opened his amber eyes and looked around in the dirt. He stood up, dusting himself off from head to toe. He looked down at himself, blinking a few times as he tried to remember exactly why he woke up here.

"Where...am I...?" he muttered, confused at the sound of his own voice.

"Who am I...?" he asked himself, holding his head as he thought. After a minute of thinking, he gave up and began to walk into the large city.

The snow-white hedgie walked past a few buildings before being bumped into by someone, seemingly the only other person in the city.

"Hey, watch where you're going!" the stranger complained.

"Sorry, miss..." the confused being replied, already identifying the other as female. She rolled her eyes, continuing to walk.

"Hmm..." the white hedgehog sighed, looking ahead of him and beginning to walk again. He strode cautiously, lost in thought, trying desperately to remember who he was. He shook his head, coming across a small apartment building. It looked pretty nice, and somewhat...familiar...He noticed there was a large lobby on the first floor and decided to go in and try to ask for some help. Maybe someone in here, he thought, could tell him at least something he wanted to know.
