Severus was a brutal, harsh man by nature, and his temperament was ill qualified to provide the flattery with which young ladies were accustomed to and required. As such, it was his misfortune to distress Miss Granger, the lady who had caught the attention of the aforementioned wizard, and in so doing, had single-handedly ruined any chance of future happiness with said witch. He had attempted to praise her fine eyes, and instead offended her most cruelly.
As she resolutely walked away from the dour Professor, he mentally shouted, 'Look back at me!'
She carried on walking, however, hiding silent tears.
