Aang lay in the bed, struggling to get each breath into his lungs. "Katara..." Katara goes over to her weak husband and clutches his hand. "I don't have much time left. I just want you to know one thing..." A tear trickles down her cheek and falls on their entwined fingers. "It is time for a new avatar to enter this age. One that will need your guidance. I love you" he put his shaky hand on her cheek and wiped the tears away. "No need to cry, dear Katara. I'll see you again someday. Remember that..." With one last smile, he shut his eyes and they never opened again.

16 years later...

"Katara! I did it! I got my bending back!" Korra exclaimed. Her bending was taken by Amon and after learning I could not heal her, she got on her Polarbear dog and rode off, only to return telling me her bending came back. "It came back? That's merely impossible! How in the world did this happen?" I asked.

"Aang gave it to me!" A look of sadness crossed over my face. "Aang...gave it to you?" Korra nodded. "Yeah it was amazing! Mako saw it all!" Mako? That fire bender boy that Korra's been hanging out with? If he saw it then...maybe I could too.

I bright Korra outside to the old shrine. "Korra..." Korra looked confused at my sudden change of heart. "What is it, Master Katara?" "Now that you've mastered your spiritual side, can you...connect with Aang?" She shrugged. "I-I don't know. I can try"

We meditated in front of the shrine for hours. "Sigh. Katara, I'm sorry but I can't connect with him. I have bigger problems to deal with like learning how to restore people's bending. How am I supposed to help the world if I can't even help Just the benders? I'm the worst Avatar ever..."

a voice appeared behind me. "Now that's a false accusation" A smile appeared on Korra's face. "Aang..." My eyes grew wide and I stood up. "Aang? Do my old eyes deceive me?" Aang finally seemed to notice me. "Katara..." A smile found its way to my face to. "It's nice to see you again". "As its is wonderful to see you too. There is not a day that goes by when I don't think of you" he grabbed my hands. "Why are you here?" I asked. "Because the avatar needed assistance but I see now she pleaded so much not for herself, but for you to."

Korra left Aang and I alone. "I miss you, Aang" I said sadly. "Hey, don't be sad. I told you I'd see you again." He comforted. Aang bent a heart out of fire and I filled it in with water. "When can I join you?" Aang hesitated. "Your time will come. The end will always come just maybe not today" I smiled and a tear dropped on our intwined fingers. "Until we meet again, dear Katara. I'll see you again. Remember that" Aang finished as he faded away. The only thing of him that remained was the scorch mark of the heart of fire and the little pond that rested within. "Yes Aang. Until we meet again..."
