Magnus was sitting at his counter, eating dry toast and drinking water when he received a fire message from the Institute. He picks up the paper slowly, dropping the glass to the floor as he reads, the loud shatter ringing in his ears. Help… come quickly… dying. His heart starts to race and he runs to the door, grabbing his coat as he rushes outside.
He runs all the way to the institute, pushing past people in the street, not caring about anything other than making it in time.
Magnus and his boyfriend had been dating for years. Of course it's a secret and only one other person knows of them. The one that sent him the letter. The one that drove him absolutely crazy. But that didn't matter now. Because he had stuck by them no matter what. He was there for them and was tied to his boyfriend in a bond that was only breakable by death.
He reached the Institute where his boyfriends Parabatai already had the doors open. Magnus ran up the stairs and bolted straight to his boyfriend's room, finding Silent Brothers surrounding the bed. He gasped and pushed past them, running to the side of the bed and dropping to his knees.
"Jem? Jem!" Grabs his boyfriends hand tightly. Tears running down his face.
"Wake up. Jem, please. Wake up! Don't leave me here alone!"
He is one of us now, Magnus Bane. It's time for you to go. The Silent Brothers pull him away, Magnus kicking and screaming as he is dragged from the room.
The battle was over. Sebastian was gone and everyone had made it out of Edom safely. Magnus was sitting with Alexander, his head on his shoulder, both of them silent.
Magnus was resting with his eyes closed, drifting off. He opened them just for a second to glance around and noticed a flash of silver out of the corner of his eye. He sits up slowly and turns, seeing a boy he hasn't spoken with in hundreds of years.
Magnus gets up quickly and walks away slowly, not believing it for a second. It can't be. He's gone. He was to never see him again. It couldn't be him.
"Jem..?" Stops behind him, biting his lip, waiting for the boy to turn around.
Gasping when he does. His eyes fill with tears, "Hello, Magnus"
He throws his arms around Jem's neck, hugging him tightly, crying on his shoulder. "You were gone. You were turned into a Silent Brother. You left me. I was alone. For hundreds of years.. I had no one."
"I'm sorry Magnus.. It was my only choice. I'm so sorry. I never meant to hurt you." Jem holds him tightly, rubbing circles on his back. "I love you, Magnus. I still love you. I never stopped."
Magnus freezes in his arms, torn between Jem and Alexander. He finally got Alec back.. But now he's also got Jem back. And now he's got to make the hardest decision of his life. His old love, or the new one.
