He knew that it was wrong – that they were wrong.

He couldn't bring himself to refuse her, though. There was something about her that befuddled his mind and confused his sense of right from wrong.

All he could think of was one thing: She wanted him. Beautiful Victoire wanted him. Neville knew that he should protest, to put a stop to this – whatever this was.

His conscience bellowed out in vain for this to stop as she pressed her sweet lips against his. He ignored his conscience because they were just kissing. It was only a kiss.

But then the blonde moved her hands from his dark hair and started unbuttoning his undershirt, one button at a time.

No, no, no! It was so wrong – but then why did it feel so right?

Victoire pulled him closer to her, brutally destroying all of his defenses.

He was all hers.

"No, no, you don't mean it

You simply say it because you like the way that it sounds"

He felt so awful – so good.

Neville looked over at the young Weasley and wished that things were different – that he was younger, better suited. He wished that he could not only be everything she wanted but also everything that she needed. She didn't need him and she never would; Neville knew and it scared him.

Victoire snuggled closer, nuzzling her face into his neck. "I love you," she whispered slowly.

He tensed at her words, knowing damn well that she didn't mean them. "No."

She pulled away from him and smiled that sickeningly perfect smile as she caressed his cheek with her soft hand. "I do."

"I feel weak

And I give up

And I give up"

He closed his eyes as her words lingered in his ears.

"I love you," she repeated as she continued to stroke his face.

Neville didn't reject her empty words this time because he couldn't. He wanted to believe them so badly for so long and he was tired of fighting them.

So he gave up.

"I love you, too," he murmured, knowing damn well that he would regret those words sooner or later.
